RACE 1 - P. D. EXCAVATIONS MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres

HEREWARD (W. Kerford) was slow to jump, and shortly after jumping was inconvenienced when tightened by MISS ANCESTRY (Shane Tronerud), which shifted out.

IWO JIMA (C. Buchiw) got its head up and raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the race. IWO JIMA was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. Mr. A. Muhlethaler, Trainer of the mare, was advised that it was suspended from racing for thirty days, and must complete a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.

Near the 700 metres BRANDY CRUSTER (S. Price) was hampered when tightened by WHAT A HEART (NZ) (J. Lyon), as a result of that gelding being taken in by RADIANT SOCIETY (C. Lever). In consequence HEREWARD (W. Kerford) was obliged to steady off the heels of BRANDY CRUSTER (S. Price). C. Lever was reprimanded and advised in future to give riders on his inside the room to which they are entitled.

WHAT A HEART (NZ) lost its near hind plate during the race.

LADY MILINA sprung its near hind plate during the race.

DUA AWALI was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the gelding was lame in the off hind leg.

RACE 2 - WILBURTINS MCDONALD MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division) - 1200 metres

The start of this race was delayed owing to ALADAR and OH SO SOFT (NZ) proving difficult to load. Mr Mark Lewis (ALADAR) and Mr. J. Gask (OH SO SOFT (NZ) were advised that a repetition of their horses behaviour would lead to action being taken against them.

KING CHEONG (D. Tootell) was slow to jump.

BLEVIC’S JEWEL (Shane Tronerud) jumped away awkwardly and was hampered by CARDCHEETA (M. Pumpa) shifting out abruptly.

Near the 900 metres KING CHEONG (D. Tootell), which was inclined to race greenly, was taken in by LADY TORRI (J. Maund), resulting in KING CHEONG being obliged to steady off the heels of OH SO SOFT (NZ) (Darren Holland).

In the vicinity of the 800 metres OH SO SOFT (NZ) (Darren Holland) was obliged to steady off the heels of WHO NOW (R. Faehr), as that gelding was taken in by ALADAR (J. Bowditch).

Near the 700 metres EXALTED TIME (M. Neilson) rolled in and brushed WHO NOW (R. Faehr), which shifted in abruptly and was forced to steady off the heels of SMURIFFIC (P. Gatt).

Inside the 600 metres WHO NOW (R. Faehr) commenced to race keenly and had to be restrained off the heels of SMURIFFIC (P. Gatt)

Inside the 300 metres OH SO SOFT (NZ) (Darren Holland), which was inclined to shift in and away from BLEVIC’S JEWEL (Shane Tronerud), rolled in, clipping the heels of SMURIFFIC (P. Gatt), which rolled out, resulting in OH SO SOFT (NZ) (Darren Holland) being severely unbalanced in the saddle.

Inside the 100 metres NADELLA (J. Holder) was disappointed when tightened by ALADAR (J. Bowditch), which was inclined to roll in and away from EXALTED TIME (M. Neilson).

CARDCHEETA was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the gelding was exhibited poor recovery post race.

RACE 3 - VIP HOME SERVICES HANDICAP - 1600 metres

DANCIN’ MAX (J. Holder) reared as the gates opened and missed the start.

FRENCH BELLE (P. Gatt) was inclined to race keenly in the early stages, and in the vicinity of the 1100 metres the saddle shifted forward, disadvantaging P. Gatt for the remainder of the event.

CAFÉ DEL MAR suffered wound to its off hind cannon during the race.

RACE 4 - ROSEMOUNT ESTATE MAIDEN PLATE - 1050 metres

Mr. S. Webb, Trainer of BEE RYAN ZEEBRA, was questioned regarding his failure to declare a rider by the required time and subsequently fined $50.

The start of this race was delayed owing to SAAYEB (NZ) proving difficult to load. Trainer Mr. A. McEvoy was advised that a repetition of the gelding’s behaviour would lead to action being taken against it.

UNIMIND (J. Bowditch) was slow to jump.

SMOOTH TAKEOFF (C. Lever) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in onto ERRAND (P. Gatt). At the same time WEST POINT ACADEMY (D. Tootell) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out onto LAMBRETTA (S. Price), resulting in ERRAND and LAMBRETTA making contact and LAMBRETTA losing its position.

Near the 800 metres SMOOTH TAKEOFF (C. Lever), which had been inclined to lay in, commenced to race keenly and was obliged to steady off the heels of BENACHI (M. Pumpa), which shifted in. M. Pumpa was reprimanded and advised in future to ensure that he was clear before shifting ground.

Near the 700 metres UNIMIND (J. Bowditch) hung out and inconvenienced ERRAND (P. Gatt).

Over the concluding stages BEE RYAN ZEEBRA (D. Nikolic) was inclined to shift out abruptly under pressure.

RACE 5 - STAMFORD HOTELS & RESORTS MAIDEN PLATE - 1050 metres

STELLAR FILLE (C. Lindop) was slow to jump.

KEEP THE NOTE (D. Tootell) raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Shortly after entering the straight PUSHING DAISIES (J. Holder) was disappointed when attempting a tight run between DEVARANI (C. Lever) and SWANG (L. Meech), which edged out.

Near the 300 metres PUSHING DAIIES (J. Holder) was obliged to steady off the heels of SWANG (L. Meech), which rolled in.

GUIDELIGHT lost its near fore plate during the race.

IVORY BIRD sustained lacerations to both hind heels during the race.

PUSHING DAISIES, which returned to the Enclosure with blood in its mouth, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the filly to have a superficial laceration.

RACE 6 - PENFOLDS HANDICAP - 2014 metres

NEARMISS (J. Lyon) and AFFINITAS (C. Lindop) jumped away awkwardly.

YOUNG WILLY (L. Meech) was slow to jump.

Shortly after the crossing, in the vicinity of the 1900 metres EXALTED BEAU (P. Gatt) was inclined to be reluctant inside horses, got its head up when tightened by FULFILMENT (D. Tootell, which was inclined to shift in and away from IT AIN’T OVER (W. Kerford).

Inside the 1900 metres EXALTED BEAU (P. Gatt) was reluctant to hold its position when tightened by FULFILMENT (D. Tootell), which rolled in.

Near the 700 metres FULFILMENT (D. Tootell) was obliged to steady off the heels of PROPHET’S DREAM (C. Buchiw), which shifted out. C. Buchiw was reprimanded and advised to take greater care when shifting ground in future.

M. Neilson, rider of PRETTY EDGY, dropped his whip in the vicinity of 500 metres. M. Neilson was advised that future incidents of carelessness may lead to a penalty being imposed.

RACE 7 - CHANNEL 7 MAGIC MILLIONS ADELAIDE 2YO CLASSIC - 1200 metres

HELTER SKELTER, which had got its near fore leg caught in the gates, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.

CLEAR INTENT (D. Smith) and MOT D’OR (J. Holder) were slow to jump.

DAN REGO (C. Newitt) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, inconveniencing RESOLVED (D. Oliver).

Near the 500 metres IN FLAMES (G. Boss), which was inclined to race greenly, hung out and as a result WONTIME (J. Maund), became unbalanced. In consequence CHAMPAGNE GOLD (C. Lindop) was obliged to steady off the heels of WONTIME.

DUNE WARRIOR lost its off fore plate during the event.

RACE 8 - LAKEWOOD STUD HANDICAP - 1200 metres

At the entrance to the straight JACK OF SPADES (J. Holder) was obliged to steady off the heels of OUR FAME (N. Tomizawa), which shifted out.

On jumping away OUR SUCCESS (M. Neilson) shifted out and tightened MANILOW (D. Carney) onto IRISH INTRIGUE (B. Claridge)

Near the 800 metres KAHOONA (J. O’Connor) was obliged to steady off the heels of TORFILA (H. McKechnie), which shifted in.

RACE 9 - SPORTINGBET AUSTRALIA HANDICAP - 1050 metres

SAN SONATA (NZ) (Shane Tronerud) was slow to jump.

Near the 800 metres SOULS (D. Carney) was obliged to steady when tightened by EDGING AROUND (W. Kerford), which shifted in.
