Gai Confident In Flames Will Measure Up

r2gaiwaterhouse.jpg (11657 bytes)Leading Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse is confident unbeaten filly In Flames will prove to be one of the horses to beat in tomorrow's $400,000 Channel 7 Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic (1200m) at Morphettville.

Waterhouse arrived in Adelaide yesterday to oversee the final preparation of the filly as she prepares to run in the state's richest juvenile event.

Not surprisingly Waterhouse was busily inspecting dozens of yearlings at the Magic Millions Sales Complex at Morphettville, a location she is hoping will prove lucky tomorrow.

In Flames, a daughter of Spectrum burst into Millions calculations when she scored an impressive win on debut at Wyong just over a week ago.

Waterhouse reported this afternoon that the filly was in good shape for tomorrow's race.

"She has settled in well and I'm hopeful she will run well," Waterhouse told Cyberhorse today.

"Obviously it is a signifcant rise in class, but some horses are capable of taking the step," she added.

In Flames, who was a $35,000 purchase for Denise Martin's Star Thoroughbreds at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast last year, will be Waterhouse's first Millions runner in Adelaide.

Success in races restricted to Magic Millions runners is certainly not a foreign thing for the top trainer. She has won two 2YO Classics and two 3YO Trophies on the Gold Coast with Assertive Lad, Excellerator, Biaggio and Ha Ha respectively.
