Dunn Upstages Brother at Second Ride

Briony Dunn, the 19-year-old sister of leading current Hong Kong based riding sensation Dwayne, rode her first winner at the town made famous for this month's solar eclipse, Ceduna.

In front of a large and jovial crowd the fresh faced apprentice booted home the Trevor Trenowden trained Monstrosity Miss to win the first of five races on the card at the meeting on South Australia's west coast.

The Monstrosity Miss mount was just Dunn's second ever race ride after a unplaced effort on an outsider trained by her father Barry at Strathalbyn on the previous Wednesday.

Dunn, not surprisingly over the moon after the win, quipped Ceduna was now her favourite track.

"I like this place," Dunn said. "I can't wait to come back in January and February," she added with a beaming smile.

Dunn junior was quick to point out that her first winner came 70 rides faster than that of her internationally proven brother.

"It took Dwayne 72 rides to get his first winner at Gawler one day for Brian Searle," Briony said. "So I'm excited to get a winner so early on."

Trenowden, who interestingly supplied Dwayne with his first ever mount also at Ceduna, said he was delighted for the young hoop.

"Briony rode the horse very well," Trenowden reported moments after the win. "And I'm delighted to provide her with her first ever winner. It's something she will never forget."

It was a good day out for Trenowden. As well as Monstrosity Miss winning the first he also saddled up the final race winner True Currency, who started a warm favourite and also won easily.

Not content with one winner from two rides at Ceduna, Briony travelled to Bordertown at the other end of the state today and was a winner at her only ride.

Prestigious, trained by her father Barry, scored a runaway win in the third race to provide Dunn with her first TAB winner.

With today's win Dunn boosted her early record to four rides for two wins.
