RACE 1 : INVICTA CARPETS HANDICAP - 1600 metres

VIGNOR (P. Gatt) knuckled badly on jumping away.

Shortly after the start ROMANOUS JEWEL (J. Bowditch) shifted in, tightening VIGNOR (P. Gatt) onto the hindquarters of LOVELLE (J. Maund), resulting in that mare being unbalanced. J. Bowditch was advised of his obligations.

RACE 2 : REDBOOK CARPETS HANDICAP - 1800 metres

On jumping away DUCHOVNY (S. Price) shifted out onto BUFFALO POWER (J. Holder) taking that gelding out onto TALANTO (D. Carney), which was hampered when tightened onto BAITENHAUSEN (B. Claridge), resulting in that gelding being taken out and hampering SHOWGAZER (J. Bowditch).

Near the 500 metres TALANTO (D. Carney) was inconvenienced by DUCHOVNY (S. Price), which shifted out. S. Price was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground. D. Carney reported his mount had been reluctant to hold its position under pressure.

At the entrance to the straight TALANTO (D. Carney) shifted out and brushed MAGIC BEN (D. Missen).

DUCHOVNY sprung its near fore plate during the race.

RACE 3 : JAYCO HANDICAP - 1200 metres

BOLD REEF, which was reported as being involved in a stable accident, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon upon arrival on course and ruled fit to start.

On jumping away BOLD REEF (J. Lyon) shifted out and inconvenienced RUMAH BATIK (W. Kerford).

RACE 4 : ALCOHOL GO-EASY BREEDERS’ STAKES - 1200 metres

REGROWTH (S. Price), which lost its hind footing, jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after jumping SYRINX (B. Fenech) shifted out and contacted CHAMPAGNE GOLD (J. Bowditch).

WONTIME (J. Maund) raced greenly throughout the event and was inclined to lay out, away from other runners.

Near the 600 metres BARABBA ROAD (P. Gatt), which was inclined to lay in, rolled in and tightened SYRINX (B. Fenech), which became unbalanced for a short distance.

Subsequent to the event REGROWTH was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

RACE 5 : MAGIC MILLIONS HANDICAP - 1100 metres

SOCIAL GLOW (M. Neilson) and BLUE HAZE (S. Price) jumped away awkwardly.

TELESTICH (C. Lever) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly onto DEVARANI (C. Lindop), which was hampered, taking that filly in onto LONGTIE VET (S. Tronerud), which became unbalanced.

Approaching the 400 metres BEAU GALLANT (V. Hall) improved onto the heels of UPMARKET STAR (D. Carney) and was obliged to steady briefly.

Inside the 200 metres BLUE VENTURE (J. Lyon), which was inclined to lay out, brushed SWISS VAULT (B. Claridge) on several occasions and near the 100 metres SWISS VAULT laid back abruptly, resulting in both runners being inconvenienced.

RACE 6 : FELTEX CARPETS R N IRWIN STAKES - 1100 metres

STAR HIT (C. Lever) knuckled on jumping away.

Near the 300 metres BOMBER BILL (S. Arnold) shifted out and brushed LAZING ABOUT (J. Maund).

SUPER ELEGANT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the horse took longer than expected to recover and he was of the opinion that it may be exhibiting early signs of a virus. Mr. A. Vasil, Trainer of SUPER ELEGANT, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

RACE 7 : C S HAYES MEMORIAL CUP - 1600 metres

Near the 1400 metres LADY KNOCKOUT (S. Price), which was inclined to lay out away from the rail, rolled out and brushed THE EX FILES (J. Bowditch) taking that mare out onto the hindquarters of BORDER TIME (P. Gatt) resulting in THE EX FILES being hampered.

Approaching the 400 metres EXALTED LAD (D. Carney) was obliged to steady off the heels of DIMNESS (M. Neilson), which shifted out.

Inside the 200 metres EXALTED LAD (D. Carney) shifted outside the heels of GEORGIE BOY (NZ) (C. Lever) and brushed LADY KNOCKOUT (S. Price) as that mare was attempting to improve inside the heels of TERMINUS PRINCE (J. Holder). LADY KNOCKOUT and EXALTED LAD continued to race tight in attempting to take a run, which was available.

Approaching the finish LADY KNOCKOUT (S. Price) was obliged to steady owing to TERMINUS PRINCE (J. Holder) rolling in.

BO BEST, which performed poorly, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

RACE 8 : MINSTER CARPETS HANDICAP - 1050 metres

Shortly after the start MILITARY TUNE (W. Kerford) was obliged to steady and lost its position when tightened between GLENWEST (J. Lyon), which shifted in and OUR FAME (N. Tomizawa), which shifted out.

Near the 200 metres NOBLE SUN (NZ) (C. Symons) was obliged to steady off the heels of LA SUPREMO (J. Bowditch), which shifted out.

OUR FAME suffered a minor laceration to the off hind cannon during the event.
