RACE 1 – MARG McDONAGH CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1300 metres

Mr. M. Whittle, Trainer of KEEN ON BILL, was fined $20 for presenting that gelding in the Mounting Enclosure without blinkers on.

KOODA SHINE (C. Buchiw) shifted in shortly after the start and as a result WORLDLY ROSE (W. Kerford) struck the heels of KOODA SHINE and dipped.

Racing to the 500 metres and WORLDLY ROSE (W. Kerford) shifted out to improve its position and as a result took KOODA SHINE (C. Buchiw) wider on the track.

RACE 2 – TATIARA TRENCHDIGGER & BOBCAT HIRE / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 metres

Stewards ordered the withdrawal of FORESEE at 2.40 p.m. when the filly refused to go to the barrier. Mr. J. Braithwaite, Trainer of FORESEE, was advised the mare was now suspended until she completes a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on FORESEE be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN 6 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE 7 cents in the dollar.
SP bets are subject to the deductions.

BAG OF PEARLS (B. Blacker) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race, and racing to the 400 metres lost ground.

Racing to the 300 metres MISS BOSS (C. Lindop) shifted out to obtain a clear run and in consequence brushed PASTORAL LADY (S. Harrison).

RACE 3 – CUB CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1100 metres

RACE 4 – SMOKE-FREE DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE – 1900 metres

JET LANE (T. Barras) and SOLARPLEX (NZ) (B. Blacker) were slow to begin.

Racing to the 1500 metres BETRAAZIM (S. Harrison) over-raced and got its head up.

Racing to the 1400 metres GAME TO AIM (D. Oakford) had to be checked to avoid the heels of TONGOWOKO (M. Hoppo) and as a result SOLARPLEX (NZ) (B. Blacker) had to be checked to avoid the heels of GAME TO AIM.

RACE 5 – MGA INSURANCE BROKERS DISTANCE CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1900 metres

RACE 6 – L G & K MALONEY CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1100 metres

NATALAMI (A. Stead) jumped away awkwardly.

Racing to the 600 metres ESPERADO (C. Lindop) rolled in and brushed CIELO LAHA (M. Neilson).

Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight K. Post rider of FLEET MASTER, and M. Neilson rider of CIELO LAHA, requested to view the official photo-finish of the race. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was duly declared.

RACE 7 – BARRETT DISTRIBUTORS FLYING HANDICAP – 1100 metres

RACE 8 – P J & L E MURCH / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1300 metres

G. Hoobin explained to Stewards he was doubly engaged in this event on DANCES WITH COLOUR and WAROOKA WARRIOR due to a misunderstanding with Trainer Mr. B. Richardson. Stewards accepted G. Hoobin’s explanation and A. Stead was engaged to ride DANCES WITH COLOURS.

PASSION PLAY (M. Neilson) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, inconveniencing OUR CUSTODIAN (T. Barras) and TINTED STAR (W. Kerford).

Racing to the 700 metres BULL CREEK BABE (J. Potter), which was racing greenly, lost ground and as a result WAROOKA WARRIOR (A. Stead) had to be checked to avoid that mare’s heels.

Racing to the 300 metres OUR CUSTODIAN (T. Barras) shifted out and inconvenienced SABOTAGE (C. Lindop). T. Barras was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

P. Marks, rider of WHY RITA the 4th Placegetter, lodged an objection against PASSION PLAY (M. Neilson) being declared the 3rd Placegetter, on the grounds of alleged interference running to the 250 metres and approaching the winning post. After considering the evidence from all parties, viewing the official video films and on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the objection.

Racing to the 250 metres PASSION PLAY (M. Neilson) shifted out and as a result WHY RITA (P. Marks) had to change course inwards to obtain a run and shortly after the winning post WHY RITA was tightened for room by PASSION PLAY. M. Neilson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Subsequent to the running of the race MARMARUS KID underwent a Veterinary examination which revealed it had pulled up lame in the near fore leg.
