1 : OZONE SEAFRONT HOTEL DISTANCE CALSS 6 HANDICAP - 1730

In the vicinity of the 900 metres OUR LITTLE SPOT (K. Louca) shifted out making
contact with SPAGET (D. Tootell) for a short distance.
In the vicinity of the 600 metres ROYAL JEUNE (J. O’Connor) had to be
steadied for a short distance due to OUR LITTLE SPOT (K. Louca) shifting in slightly.
RACE 2 : MALAYSIA AIRLINES CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1200
metres
Stewards questioned B. Dunn, rider of TUDOR ARMY, in relation to her being
overweight in this event and unable to ride that mare. Stewards accepted the
explanation tendered by B. Dunn.
PRETTY ORDINARY (J. O’Connor) was slow to begin.
In the vicinity of the 200 metres R. Faehr, rider of EL ENTRADOR, accidentally
dropped his whip. R. Faehr was warned by Stewards that a repetition of this
carelessness in future would lead to a penalty being imposed.
R. Faehr, rider of EL ENTRADOR, was reprimanded by Stewards and advised against
the practice of looking around and also that he must ride his mounts out to the finish of
the race.
RACE 3 : KANGAROO ISLAND LODGE/SABIS MAIDEN PLATE -
1200 metres
CLAY TRICE (R. Faehr) was slow to begin.
KEENAN’S PRIDE (B. Dunn) showed a tendency to lay in over the concluding 250
metres of the race.
RACE 4 : SMOKE-FREE CHALLENGE 2003 (1) - 1200
metres
SWITCHBY (K. Louca) was slow to begin.
RACE 5 : WEST END KANGAROO ISLAND CUP - 1865 metres
In the vicinity of the 1400 metres JIMMY’S EDGE (K. Stra) shifted in
resulting in BLEVITA (R. Faehr) having to be eased and shift out to avoid the heels of
JIMMY’S EDGE. K. Stra was advised by Stewards of her obligations when shifting
ground.
J. O’Connor, rider of GRISWALD, reported to Stewards that the gelding showed
a tendency to hang in throughout the event.
RACE 6 : KANGAROO ISLAND SEALINK/SABIS CLASS D HANDICAP -
1350 metres
T. Barras was questioned regarding him being excessively overweight in this
event. Stewards accepted T. Barras’ explanation and due to his excellent record
that this was the first occasion he had been overweight, Stewards took no further action.
MANHATTAN BELLE (R. Faehr) was slow to begin.
KARNALI (J. O’Connor) was held up for a short distance inside the 600 metres
when caught behind tiring horses.
SKAGNETTI (B. Dunn) showed a tendency to hang in, in the straight, resulting in
B. Dunn having to stop riding that gelding on several occasions and straighten it.
Subsequent to the race a veterinary examination of MANHATTAN BELLE revealed that
the filly had suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack. As a result Mr. P. Blanch,
trainer of MANHATTAN BELLE, was advised that the filly was now banned from racing for a
period of three months under ARR 53A.
