RACE 1 – SWETTENHAM STUD / SABIS FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1350 metres

RACE 2 – GRAND TASMAN HOTEL / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP - 1200 metres

A veterinary examination of PROGRESS STAR prior to the event revealed that the gelding was fit to take its place in the field.

PROGRESS STAR (C. Lindop) and DOUJEAN (K. Louca) were both slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 1100 metres SEA RANSOM (C. Lever) had to be eased and raced ungenerously, with its head in the air, for a short distance when GUIDERA (B. Dunn), although clear, shifted in sharply towards the fence.

OUR DATS (R. Faehr) raced greenly in the middle stages of the event.

In the vicinity of the 500 metres SPHINXI (C. Buchiw) shifted in slightly resulting in GUIDERA (B. Dunn), which had been racing greenly, having to be eased and clipping the heels of SPHINXI and becoming unbalanced. As a result SEA RANSOM (C. Lever), which was racing behind GUIDERA, had to be checked to avoid the heels of GUIDERA. C. Buchiw was advised by Stewards to exercise greater care in future.

A veterinary examination of GUIDERA subsequent to the event revealed that gelding had general muscle soreness.

RACE 3 – smoke-free HANDICAP - 1200 metres

C. Buchiw, rider of DAYNA’S PRIDE, accidentally dropped her whip in the vicinity of the 100 metres. C. Buchiw was fined $50 under ARR 137(a) for carelessness.

RACE 4 – smoke-free COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1350 metres

W. Kerford, who was indisposed earlier in the day, was examined by St. John Ambulance personnel and declared fit to ride for the remainder of the meeting.

RACE 5 – DARVELL FEEDS CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 metres

MIMINI (C. Lindop) was slow to begin.

A veterinary examination of MIMINI subsequent to the event revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 6 – ALCOHOL GO-EASY HANDICAP - 1750 metres

Correct Weight for this event was delayed to enable C. Lever, rider of PURAVALOUR, to view the official video footage of the start when he believed he may have been denied a fair start. After viewing the film, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight wad duly declared.

When the gates were released PURAVALOUR (C. Lever) reared and as a result was extremely slow to begin.

KOORAN KID (W. Kerford) was slow to begin.

PURAVALOUR (C. Lever) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race.

THRU THE TRAFFIC (K. Louca) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the race.

Subsequent to the event S. Price, rider of BAD BOY BUCK, reported to Stewards that after that gelding had negotiated the turn out of the straight, it had taken charge of him and for the remainder of the race he was unable to bring the gelding back under him.

RACE 7 – KIM CLARKE GENERAL BUILDER PTY LTD MAIDEN PLATE - 1250 metres

Correct Weight for this event was delayed to enable C. Buchiw, the rider of FAST TAN, the second placegetter, to view the official video in the vicinity of the 200 metres. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was duly declared.

FAST TAN (C. Buchiw) and MUST BE HANNAH (K. Louca) jumped away awkwardly.

At the start BEAU INCA (B. VALE) shifted out at the same time as WOLINSKI PARK (J. Burgess) shifted in resulting in WOOD PILE (J. Potter) and LEVITE (S. Price) both being tightened and hampered for a short distance.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres WOOD PILE (J. Potter) and LEVITE (S. Price) bumped together for a short distance.

Racing inside the 600 metres FAST TAN (C. Buchiw) had to be steadied from the heels of BEAU INCA (B. Vale), which rolled in slightly.

In the vicinity of the 400 metres LEVITE (S. Price) shifted out to improve its position resulting in NOT LATE (C. Lindop) being inconvenienced.

Racing to the 200 metres LEVITE (S. Price) shifted in slightly making contact with ANTIQUE EDGE (P. Gatt), which became slightly unbalanced and shifted in making contact with FAST TAN (C. Buchiw), resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced for a short distance.
