Riders Cleared in Cleaver Fall Hearing

Stewards today conducted an Inquiry into the reason for RANGERINE (D. Cleaver) falling in the vicinity of the 800 metres in Race 3 - Christies Beach Hotel/Motel / SABIS Maiden Plate at Strathalbyn Racecourse on Sunday 23rd March 2003.

Evidence was taken from D. Cleaver (RANGERINE), P. Gatt (HOT CHILLI WOMAN) and C. Bryant (RUSTIC HALO). After considering that evidence Stewards found that RUSTIC HALO (C. Bryant) shifted in near the 800 metres, at the same time as HOT CHILLI WOMAN (P. Gatt) shifted out slightly and as a result, RANGERINE (D. Cleaver), which was racing between those two horses, was tightened for galloping room, contacted the heels of HOT CHILLI WOMAN and fell.

Stewards took no action, as they deemed no rider to be solely responsible for the incident.
