Wednesday's Morphettville Races Report

Jockey Chad Lever added another two wins to his city tally when he guided home at double at Morphettville on Wednesday.

Lever brought up his first winner when he rode the Bart Merrall prepared Autentico Teatro $4 to a two and a quarter length victory in the 2028 metre second event.

The product of the mating of Pure Theatre and the Conquistarose mare Effie And Alice, Autentico Teatro was a near all the way winner and beat the $3 chance Burgundy Notes for trainer Bill Papazaharoudakis and jockey Matthew Neilson. Starting at $5 Jaleo was a farther one and a quarter lengths away third for Stuart Dodd and Clare Lindop.

Chad Lever brought up the second leg of his double when the Regal Shot seven year old gelding Shot In Jest, from the Pompeii mare Romantic Jest, was the length winner of the 1100 metre seventh race.

Prepared by Ken Sweeny Shot In Jest $6 led all the way and was victorious over the $2-80 public elect Marion Bay for horse carer Mark Kavanagh and jockey Simon Price. Speculate $21 was another half length away filling the minor placing for Simon Jones and apprentice Jordon Frew.

Jockey Ben Claridge took his tally to within a half a win on the city jockey’s premiership behind the suspended Libby Hopwood when he guided the Phillip Stokes mentored Mr Doubtfire $5 to a two and a half length win in race one which was contested over 1050 metres.

From the Mustin Lake mare Brave Deed and fathered by Not A Single Doubt, Mr Doubtfire came from last to beat the Jim Smith mentored Matthew Neilson mount Raven Ready $5.50. David Jolly and his apprentice Claudia Lions stood in the minor placegetter’s stall when the last start winner Wicked Dreams $6 was a farther half neck away third.

After joining the David Balfour stable from New South Wales three starts ago and having the services of Damien Robinson Henryfield $6 won his first race from twenty one starts when he was the head winner of the 1600 metre third event.

Being a product of the American bred horse Mr Henrysee and the Zephyr Zip matron Rosita’s Gem, Henryfield was in a mid field position for most of the race before powering home to defeat the one time leader Marley And Me $5 for the combination of mentor Gordon Richards and apprentice Kate Dyson. Another one time leader in the race Run For Cash $6 was another two lengths away third for Kylie Huxtable and Claudia Lions.

Supporters of favourites had their first collect when the David Hayes charge, the Paul Gatt ridden Free Spirited $2.60 was the two and three quarter length winner of the 1100 metre fourth race.

Being out of Impulsive Rhythm, a Rubiton mare, and the three year old daughter of Fastnet Rock, Free Spirited was an all the way winner and beat the David Jolly charge, the Michael Hoppo ridden Elusive Desire $4.40. A father one and three quarter lengths away third was Brom Blast $26 for Paula Trenwith and Kate Dyson.

The mare Slight Of Slipper gave her father Zephyr Zip his second winner when the Blevic sired Your Thoughts was the three quarters of a length winner of 1522 metre fifth event.

Being under of care of trainer Chris Nash and having the services of Ryan Plumb Your Thoughts $8 came from a rearward position to take out the event from the Phillip Stokes mentored Ben Claridge guided Naratel $4.60. Stand In $4.40 was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Karen Byrnes and Clare Lindop.

Mentor Jon O’Connor and jockey Matthew Neilson were a winning partnership when Tristacat $5 was the half length winner of race six which was run over 1800 metres.

Sired by the United States bred stallion Tale Of The Cat from the Sir Tristram matron Tristavente, Tristacat was well to the fore throughout the event before going on to beat the Dennis McMahon trained Wayne Kerford mount Fast Eddie $12.

A farther two lengths away third was Red Cat $14 for Bill Papazaharoudakis and Kate Dyson.

The two and three quarter length win of the progeny of Redoute’s Choice and the Snippets mare Snippets’ Jewel saw the $2.70 favourite Ultramarine Blue take out the final event of 1200 metres.

Coming from the Daniel Clarken stable and having the services of Adrian Patterson Ultramarine Blue led all the way and beat the David Hayes prepared Ryan Plumb mount Apres Cougar $4. The $9 chance Magnificent Seven was a long neck away third for Barry Woosnam and Wayne Kerford.
