Punters who wagered on Moggaden in the $70,000 Listed Clean SA Port Adelaide Cup (2250m) have reason to feel slightly aggrieved after jockey Ryan Plumb weighed-in 1kg overweight.
Plumb, who currently sits in sixth position in the Adelaide Jockeys’ Premiership, pleaded guilty to weighing-in over the permitted 0.5kg in accordance with AR137 and was fined $400 for the misdemeanour.
Plumb was advised by TRSA stewards that if he continued to breach the rules regarding overweight, they may consider a suspension of licence as an appropriate penalty.
Moggaden dead-heated for fifth with Brad Star and was beaten just 1.4 lengths from the winner Right Fong.
A day earlier at Port Lincoln, Plumb was suspended for careless riding in the concluding stages of the Blackwood 0-74 Handicap (1350m) aboard Dashagh.
Plumb’s four meeting suspension will commence on February 19 with the sanction ending on February 27.
