With four stakes races on the card, Saturday's meeting at Morphettville provided some valuable insight for Super Sunday in the first week of May.
The Peter Moody-trained Returntosender won the feature race of the day, the $150,000 Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m), ahead of Marchelle Belle and the fast finishing Amberino.
Amberino is now expected to tackle this Saturday's Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1600m) at Randwick, a race she won last season.
Red Colossus announced himself as the horse to beat in the upcoming Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m) by stretching his winning streak to three in the $70,000 Listed Chairman's Stakes (2014m).
Meanwhile, the Mark Kavanagh-trained Catapulted booked a berth in the Group 1 Goodwood (1200m) with a dominant win in the $100,000 Group 3 DC McKay Stakes (1100m).
In the other stakes race of the afternoon, six-year-old gelding Naughty Boy won the $70,000 Listed Japan Trophy (2500m) giving jockey Adrian Patterson his first stakes victory for the season.
