Stewards Whip Tourneur

Jockey Dom Tourneur has been suspended for excessive whip use after Saturday’s meeting at Morphettville Parks.

Tourneur was reprimanded after pleading gulity for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than five occasions prior to the 100 metre mark aboard Any Plum in the sixth event, FMG Engineering Handicap (1550m).

Tourneur transgressed for the second time in the final race aboard winner Golden Snip. He once again pleaded guilty but TRSA stewards weren’t as lenient on this occasion, suspending Tourneur for two meetings.

Tourneur was also suspended for three meetings from the same race for using his whip in a forehand manner in consecutive strides.

That penalty will be served concurrently with the first offence which means Tourneur will be sidelined after June 14 till June 20.

Meanwhile, the stewards at Morphettville Parks conducted a random search of both male and female jockey rooms on Saturday finding that all whips, helmets and safety vests were in accordance with the rules.

The only exceptions were the safety vests belonging to Matthew Neilson and Adrian Patterson which stewards confiscated citing that the equipment required repair.
