Tendon Trouble For Dragon Lord

Dragon Lord is likely to spend some time in the spelling paddock after a post-race vet exam revealed swelling to a tendon.

Dragon Lord contested Saturday’s $32,000 Billson Sawley Architects 0-91 Handicap (1250m) at Morphettville Parks.

Heavily-supported in the betting ring, Dragon Lord firmed from $2.70 to start a $1.80 favourite.

Jumping quickly from barrier six, Dragon Lord led the field into the straight before weakening considerably in the straight to finish tenth in the 12-horse field, beaten four lengths from the winner Golden Snip.

David Jolly, trainer of Dragon Lord, has since notified TRSA stewards that the gelding has swelling of the near fore tendon but added that scans have revealed no damage to the tendon.

Jolly has ruled out the possibility of running Dragon Lord in the immediate future and now intends on gaining further veterinary advice.

TRSA stewards will require a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness prior to allowing Dragon Lord to accept for any future races or trials.
