Strangles Case In Port Lincoln

TRSA Stewards advise that tests taken from a thoroughbred horse located on a Port Lincoln property have confirmed Strangles infection.

The property on which this horse is located is on Western Approach Road, Port Lincoln, a property known as Grayview Stud, operated by Licensed Trainer Ms. A. Morrison.

The principal, as required, through her own Veterinary Surgeon, had notified PIRSA of the infection.

TRSA Stewards have ordered the property on which the infected horse is located be quarantined under Rule AR.64K(4).

Trainers are alerted that Strangles is a notifiable disease and to remain alert to horses showing the typical symptoms being high temperature, loss of appetite, discharge from the nostrils, enlarged glands, coughing and difficulty in swallowing.
