Saturday's Morphettville Races Report

Trainer Mick Price along with jockey Dale Smith and apprentice Billy Egan celebrated Caulfield Cup day at Morphettville on Saturday with doubles.

Price and Smith landed their first winner when the $5 returned About Ready was the half neck winner of the listed Durbridge Stakes which was contested over 1200 metres.

A daughter of the United States bred More Than Ready from the Alquoz mare Quiz About, About Ready was near the lead for the whole journey, not going around another horse, and beat another Price prepared runner, the Clare Lindop mount $1.90 favourite Rightfully Yours. Voile Rouge $21 was another half length away third for David Hayes and Paul Gatt.

Price and Smith wrapped up their double when the $3.80 favourite Lady Gaga was the one and a quarter length victor of the 1200 metre final event.

From Call To Duty, a Dehere mare and fathered by Al Maher Lady Gaga was not sighted until late in the event and beat the Mark Kavanagh cared for Clare Lindop ridden Easy Cash $14. Adoptme Two $14 was another three quarters of a length away third for Denis O’Leary and Matthew Neilson.

Apprentice Billy Egan continued his good form in the saddle when he brought up the first leg of a double steering the Mark Kavanagh prepared Rock The Moment $5 to a three quarters of a length win in the 1100 metre second race.

Sired by the Irish bred entire Rock Of Gibraltar from the Archregent mare Moment’s Pleasure, Rock The Moment came from well back and beat Star Of The Stalls $14 for mentor David Jolly and rider Justin Potter. Another David Jolly runner Kisrak $5 a farther five lengths away with apprentice Claudia Lions in the saddle.

Billy Egan brought up his double when he steered the Lloyd Kennewell trained $3.20 favourite Ocsmepop to a three quarters of a length win in the fourth race which was run over 1200 metres.

From Prav, a Scrupules mare and sired by Niello, Ocsmepop came from a mid field position early in the event and beat the Karen Letts- Maund trained apprentice Jordon Frew ridden My Uncle Vinny $11. Bigbaddbarry $6-50 was a farther one and a quarter lengths away third for Ken Sweeny and Dominic Tourneur.

The American bed stallion Lion Heart brought up the first leg of a double when the Bill Smart trained Todd Pannell mount Miners Gem $18 was the one and a quarter length winner of the 1100 metre opening event.

From the Blevic fathered Girls Talk the three year old filly Miners Gem came from well back and defeated the $3.20 public elect - the Mark Kavanagh trained Simon Price ridden Amy’s Glen.

Little Fireball $41 was a farther two lengths away third for Darryl Reynolds and Wayne Kerford.

Lion Heart brought up a siring double when the David Balfour trained Clare Lindop ridden Generous Beau the $3.50 favourite was the three quarters of a length winner of the 1600 third race.

From the Generous mare Kayzarana, Generous Beau was last until making a strong run at the top of the straight and going on to record a convincing win over Road Warrior $5 for horse carer Jon O’Connor and rider Dominic Tourneur.

Well Rounded $7.50 was a farther short half head away third for Lee Freedman and Dale Smith.

Starting at the odds of $5 Mother’s Milk gave her trainer John Thompson and jockey Chad Lever a half length win in race five which was run over 1200 metres.

From a daughter of O’Reilly, Baileys On Ice, the Savabeel sired Mother’s Milk came from well back and beat the Barry Dunn prepared Shayne Cahill mount Count Cheval $11. Taken the Road was a farther head away third for David Balfour and Paul Gatt at $7.

A margin of one and a quarter lengths on the part of Beldara provided trainer David Jolly and his apprentice Claudia Lions with a win in the 1000 metre seventh race.

Sired by Blevic from the Cogitate matron New Idea, Beldara led all the way and beat the Robert Smerdon trained Clare Lindop piloted Vals Boy, the $3.60 favourite. Belfast Boy $5 was a half length away third for Gordon Richards and Michael Hoppo.
