Saturday's Morphettville Races Report

Simon Price kicked off a day of doubles for both jockeys and trainers landing the first of consecutive winners when he teamed with horse carer John Thompson in the three and a half length win of the $1-90 Motifs in the opening event of 1000 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Carrying the Patinack colours of royal blue, green and gold Patinack farm logo, green sleeves, gold cap and pom pom the Fusaichi Pegasus sired Motifs, from the Stravinsky mare Melody, was well placed.

Motifs beat the David Hayes trained Todd Pannell ridden Moscow $3.80. Another Hayes runner Yasir $3 with Paul Gat in the saddle was a farther two and three quarters of a length away third.

Simon Price landed his second winner when the $2.50 returned Foxham gave trainer Tony McEvoy a three length win in the 1800 metre second race.

From the Centaine matron Centrestream and fathered by the American bred Tale Of The Cat, Foxham was well placed and defeated the David Balfour mentored Clare Lindop ridden $2.20 public elect Generous Beau.

The $4.40 returned You Or Me was another one and a quarter lengths away third for Lloyd Kennewell and apprentice Billy Egan.

Trainer David Jolly scored the first leg of a double when the Paul Gatt mount, the $3.10 favourite Tramuntana was the head winner of the fourth race which was contested over 1100 metres.

From the Success Express mare Hip Hop and sired by Singspiel Tramuntana came from last and beat the Phillip Stokes mentored apprentice Claudia Lions guided Bondarchuk $4.60. Bella Leah $6.50 was a farther long neck away filling the minor placing for Paul Seater and Clare Lindop.

The one length victory of Beldara, the $2-30 favourite, gave David Jolly his second win the 1950 metre final event.

Ridden by Jolly’s apprentice Claudia Lions the Blevic sired Beldara, out of the Cogitate mare New Idea, came from well back and beat Bold Line $101 for mentor John Hickmott and apprentice Tillie Neve. Ocsmepop $3.90 was a farther half neck away third for Lloyd Kennewell and Billy Egan.

Mentor Jon O’Connor and rider Todd Pannell brought up the first leg of their combined double when Oui Si Attitude was the half length winner of race five which was run over 1600 metres.

Fathered by Bianconi out of the Flying Spur matron Sizzie’em Oui Si Attitude was mid field early before going on to defeat the $2.50 favourite, the Lloyd Kennewell prepared Shayne Cahill mount Bertucci. Blame Game $6 was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, and Clare Lindop.

The More Than Ready sired gelding You Dee Cee, the two length winner of the 1200 metre seventh race, brought up the double for Jon O’Connor and Todd Pannell.

From the Danehill mare Wishes, You Dee Cee was well placed and beat the Ken Matson mentored apprentice Jordon Frew ridden St Fraser $9. Valoroso $21 was a farther half neck away third for Simon Casey and Simon Price.

Being quoted a $9 chance when the starter released the field Card Sharp gave Caulfield trainer Andrew Noblet and apprentice Billy Egan a half neck victory in race three which was run over 1800 metres.

Sired by the American bred Hussonet from the Cryptoclerance matron Quick Trick, Card Sharp came from a rearward position to defeat the Richard Jolly trained and his apprentice Libby Hopwood ridden Shady Grove $3.40. Miyako Princess $13 was another two and three quarter lengths away third for Graham Fryer and Tillie Neve.

The consistent filly Little Fireball gave her Gawler trainer Daryl Reynolds and rider Wayne Kerford a neck win in the 1200 metre sixth race.

The Barely a Moment three year old from the Fuji Kiseki mare Tsukiji, Little Fireball came from the middle of the field to defeat the John Hickmott prepared Libby Hopwood ridden Missionary Man, the $2 favourite.

Our Iridium $13 was a farther short half head away third for David Balfour and Scott Westover.
