Wednesday's Morphettville Parks Races Report

Apprentice Libby Hopwood created a personal best in the saddle when she landed a quartet of winners on the Parks track at Morphettville on Wednesday.

Riding the four year old debutant, the New Zealand bred Trentham for her master Richard Jolly Hopwood brought the mare from a mid field position to score a half length win the 1000 metre opening event.

From the O’Reilly mare Nikki’s Bride the Savabeel sired Trentham $6 beat the Tony McEvoy prepared Simon Price ridden Certino - the $3 public choice. Stylish Spender $18 was a farther length away third for David Jolly and Shayne Cahill.

Libby Hopwood was again in the winner’s circle when Striped $7 gave David Baylis the first leg of a double in the 1000 metre second race.

Fathered by the imported United States bred stallion Hold That Tiger from Eulissa, a Euclase matron, Striped came from a better than mid field position and, working himself into third position just after the home turn, went on to beat the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas trained Clare Lindop ridden Star Topaze $18.

The top weight, Invincible Magic $4.60, was another one and a quarter lengths away third for Daniel Clarken and John Keating.

Starting the $2.30 favourite the Simon Casey mentored Akhabach, the long head winner of the 2250 metre fifth race, gave Libby Hopwood her third winner.

A four year old daughter of Akhadan from Ball On Brach, a Brocco mare, Akhabrach was well placed and beat Peter Moody of Strathalbyn trained Troy Baker mount Forez $31. Sultan Of Speed $2.60 was another half head away filling the minor placing for Clare Lindop and the combination of Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas.

Libby Hopwood completed her quartet of winners and Simon Casey brought up a race to race double when Orchestral $7 was the one and a half length winner of the sixth race which was run over 1250 metres.

Fathered by Oratorio from the Octagonal mare Timbrel, Orchestral took up second position soon after the start before going on to beat the Barry Ewen trained last start Morphettville Parks winner Golden Vintage $8 ridden by Adrian Patterson.

The one and a quarter lengths win of the Amy Herrmann mount Sophina $3.50 in the 1250 metre fourth race gave trainer David Baylis his first double in fifteen years.

A four year old Bianconi mare, from the Euclase sired Lola, Sophina was well placed and beat the Ricky Moore trained John Keating guided Wanaka Gold $7. Habourtown $16 was a neck away filling the minor placing for John Hickmott an apprentice Scott Westover.

Returned the $3.30 favourite after an opening quote of $2.50 was bet Often Away gave trainer John Thompson and jockey Paul Gatt a half length win in the 1400 metre third event.

The progeny of Hussonet and the Keltriice mare Dashing Granada, Often Away came from a mid field position and beat Burgungdy Notes $51 Bill Papazaharoudakis and Jackson Matthews.

A length away third was Red Savina $4-40 for Mark Kavanagh and Simon Price.

Drifting two points from $7 into $5 the Encosta de Largo four year old mare Seduced gave her Strathalbyn based trainer Roslyn Day and rider Adrian Patterson a four and a quarter length win in the seventh race which was run over 1400 metres.

From Dama de Noche, a daughter of Snippets, Seduced worked into the event from a mid field position and beat Arazamataz $15 for horse carer Mark Minervini and apprentice Claudia Lions.

Chilli Diva $3.90 was a father long neck away third for Deon Koch and Justin Potter.

The Thorn Park gelding Thornburst $5, from the Colonel Collins matron New Victoria, gave trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas and their apprentice Jackson Matthews a half length win in the 1550 metre final event.

Coming from well back Thornburst had a half length advantage over the Mark Kavangh trained Libby Hopwood ridden Just Sioux Me $13 when the judge was reached.

A last start winner, Cape Clinton $10, was a farther one and three quarter lengths away third for Gordon Richards and apprentice Jordon Frew.
