Hoop On The Outer For Oakbank

Libby HopwoodApprentice Libby Hopwood has been suspended for six meetings for careless riding at Balaklava on Wednesday.

The suspension ensures she will miss next weekend's two-day Oakbank carnival.

Hopwood rode See Sparky to victory in the Barter/Kent Memorial Maiden Plate (1050m) but had to survive a protest from fourth placegetter Avail, ridden by Todd Parnell, for interference inside the final furlong.

Although stewards were not of the view the interference was worthy of upholding the objection, Hopwood was found guilty of careless riding in that she failed to straighten See Sparky over the concluding stages.

Hopwood will commence her suspension following Saturday’s meeting at Morphettville headlined by the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) and Group 3 Evright.com D.C McKay Stakes (1100m) where she will partner the Tony McEvoy-trained Too Many Reds.

Her suspension concludes on April 26.
