Wednesday's Balaklava Races Report

Sired by Discussion from the Aly Kingston mare Kingston Jungle and being under the care of Matthew Seyers with the services of Matthew Neilson, Another Discussion was always in the first four and came with a strong outside run in the straight over the concluding stages to record a length win over the Paula Trenwith trained apprentice Amy Herrmann guided Delphere $6.

Brimarvi Rose $10 was another four and a quarter lengths away third for Paul Seater and apprentice Jordon Frew.

After two favourite had saluted in the first two races bookmakers received a repreive when the $26 chance Prophets gave mentor Will Clarken and rider Chard Lever a neck victory in the third race of 1050 metres.

A Zeditave fathered three year old gelding from Nativism, a daughter of the United States bred Maroof, Prophets settled third and powered home down the centre of the track to record the win over the Shane Oxlade prepared Justin Potter ridden Murtagh $51.

After being installed the $1.65 favourite Steam Engine was a farther half length away third for Mark Kavanagh and Simon Price.

Trainer Tim Snelling and jockey Todd Pannell tasted a three quarters of a length victory when the $12 returned Dirty Ona Drink won the 1600 metre fourth race.

Apprentice Jackson Matthews acquired the first points in the first round of the SA TAB Apprentice Series when he guided the Ken M Knowles trained Countess Of Tiba $7 to a one and a quarter length win in the 2200 metre fifth event.

A seven year old Second Empire mare from True M’Lady an Is It True mare Countess Of Tiba was well placed in the distance event and beat the Colin Stewart mentored apprentice Samantha Rowley ridden Raaz Noire $51 who finished a head in front of Handsome As $4.60 for Roslyn Day and apprentice Amy Herrmann.

Favourite punters returned to the winners list when Edge Off, the $2.50 public elect gave her trainer Ken Sweeney and jockey Matthew Neilson a head victory in the 1200 metre sixth race.

The progeny of Racer’s Edge and the Zoffany mare She’s Zoff, Edge Off led from the gates before settling third and then going on to beat Mountain Cat $6 for mentor Lloyd Kennewell rider Justin Potter.

Island Teaser $6 was another half length away filling the minor placing for Tony McEvoy and Simon Price.

From the Redoute’s Choice matron Ravishing Choice, the Encosta de Lago sired Beautiful Soul maintained a forward position and beat the Gillian Davey trained Jordon Frew mount Curaca Hill $6.

The $7 chance Silent March was a farther one and a half lengths away third for Ron Stokes and Troy Baker.
