Black And Bent Wins With Weight

Despite the heavy impost of 73.5 kilos, Black And Bent comprehensively won Saturday’s $30,000 Leslie Short Hurdle (3100m) at Morphettville.
Ridden by Steven Pateman, the Robert Smerdon-trained Black And Bent ($1.20 fav) settled outside the leader Yesquire ($8), who with claiming apprentice Emily Taylor in the saddle, ensured the race would be run at a genuine tempo throughout.
The weight difference between Black And Bent and Yesquire after Taylor’s three-kilo claim was 11.5kg but the class difference between the two was evident for all to see as Black And Bent cruised to victory under a tight hold.
Yesquire finished second with Rabbuka running into third place, a long gap away from the first two across the line.
