Morphettville Races Report

Starting at $21 Magical Pearl was a farther head away third for Denis O’Leary and Reece Wheeler.

After only missing a place once in its five starts Counter Sign $3.40 scored a two and three quarter length win for co-trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas and rider Clare Lindop in the opening event of 1000 metres.

A Gonski three year old gelding from the Geiger Counter mare Counter Sue, Counter Sign led all the way and defeated the David Balfour prepared Todd Pannell ridden Noir Rasoir $18.

Serbian Crown $8.50 was another two and three quarter lengths away third for Kin Sweeney and Simon Price.

The one and three quarter length win of the Stephen Theodore prepared Movie Mogul $4 brought up an early double for rider Clare Lindop in the 1950 metre second race.

From the Zabeel mare Ishkala and sired by Johar, Movie Mogul started well before drifting back to fourth but was able to muster enough speed once again to go on and defeat the early leader Manganese $12 for mentor Ken Sweeney and apprentice Lauren Stojakovic.

Akhabrach $4 was a farther half head away third for Simon Casey and Damien Robinson.

Apprentice Libby Hopwood, scored her first win since returning from the Darwin Carnival when she scored an all the way win on Arton $5.50 for horse carer Will Clarken.

From the Last Tycoon mare Art Corp, the Rubiton sired Arton beat the Robert Smerdon prepared Craig Robertson guided Makedreamcometrue $4.

Silent Surround $12 was another half length away filling the minor placing for William Smart and Simon Price.

Part owned by injured Victorian rider Danny Brereton, Forty Two Below the $2.90 favourite, gave his Caulfield based trainer Colin Little a one and three quarter length victory in the fourth event which was run over 1000 metres.

A six year old Bel Esprit gelding from the Danehill mare Danish, Forty Two Below came from a midfield position to beat the Bill Bogarts trained Scott Westover piloted Heaven for Sure $8.

Mr Good Cat $5 was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Richard Jolly and Claudia Lions.

The High Chaparral five year old gelding Keep Cool $5.50 gave Flemington trainer Danny O’Brien and jockey Adrian Patterson a long neck win in the 1400 metre fifth race.

From the Casual Lies matron Casual Chick, Keep Cool came from a midfield position and beat Cool As Hel $5.50 for Louise Bonella and apprentice Nathan Rose.

The David Hayes prepared Craig Robertson ridden Ebony Rock $9 was another neck away third.

Starting the $3.80 equal favourite with the Victorian visitor Guru Bob and winning its third race from twelve starts Tropic Thunder gave trainer Mark Kavanagh and rider Matthew Neilson a one and three quarter length win in the 1250 metre seventh race.

From the Snippets mare Miss Shakira and fathered by More Than Ready, Tropic Thunder led all the way and beat Daydream Charlie for Shane Oxlade and Justin Potter.

Lord Monty $10 was a farther nose away third for David Hayes and Steven Arnold.

The combination of trainer Jim Smith and rider Linda Meech scored a one and a half length victory in the 1400 metre final event courtesy of Lindera, a $21 chance.

Coming from a worse than midfield position Lindera, a Danzero mare from the El Qahira mare Linaria, beat the $2.35 favourite the Mark Minervini trained Simon Price ridden Mimiele.

The $14 returned Shimano Miss was another neck away third for Stuart Padman and Paul Gatt.
