Tuesday's Morphettville Races Report

Starting the $2.15 and making his second race day appearance the Matthew Seyers trained Hot Lover gave jockey Simon Price the first leg of a double in the 1050 metre opening event at Morphettville on Tuesday.

Winning by a margin of a long head the two year old son of Bel Esprit from the Kenny's Best Pal matron Concluding, Hot Lover came from near last and, with a powerful late run defeated the Trevor Dansie trained Amy Herrmann ridden Hidden Vale $31 by a long-head.

The $3.80 returned Tang Prosper was another three and half lengths away third for Tony McEvoy and Mark Pegus.

Joining forces with her former master Richard Jolly rider Libby Hopwood rode Draw Forward $3 to short half head win in race two which was contested over 1050 metres.

The progeny of Charge Forward and the Danehill Dancer mare Lashante, Draw Forward was not very far off the pace for the entire journey and went on to record a win over the Tony McEvoy cared for Mark Pegus steered Assertive Eagle, the public elect at $2.20.

Starting for the first time Star Contessa $13 was a farther four and a quarter lengths away third for David Balfour and his apprentice Scott Westover.

Not having raced since August last year the Exceed And Excel sired Miss Explosive $8 gave her trainer David Aldridge and jockey Michael Hoppo a three quarters of a length victory in the 1050 metre third race.

From the Rubiton mare Explosive Love, Miss Explosive came from a rearward position and beat the $2 favourite Nordic Monarch $3.30 for Tony McEvoy and Mark Pegus. Heroica $8 was a farther two and a quarter lengths away third for the combination of Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas and their apprentice Jackson Matthews.

Trainer Richard Jolly celebrated his second win for the day when he combined with jockey Paul Gatt in the one and three quarter length win of the $3 chance Mr Lowndes in the 1800 metre fourth race.

Fathered by O'Reilly from Hereward the Wake mare The Wake, Mr Lowndes came from well back and defeated the Don Mckay mentored Justin Potter guided Royal Impulse $10. Rise Above It $10 was another one and three quarter lengths away third for Margo Hodge and Tarmara Zanker.

Simon Price brought up his double when the Ken Sweeney trained Perfect Crown brought up his first win in thirty nine starts when he was the one and three quarter length winner of the 1600 metre fifth race.

Sired by Beautiful Crown from the Snaadee matron Tiffany Road, Perfect Crown came from a mid field position and beat the Roy Rogers trained Libby Hopwood mount Meadows Mollie $5 who finished two and a quarter lengths ahead of another Ken Sweeney runner, the Paul Gatt piloted Fossicking $8.

Facing the starter for the first time the Golden Lake three year old gelding Broadway Lad $10 delivered his trainer Tim Selling and jockey Todd Pannell a half neck win in race six which was run over 1200 metres.

Mothered by the Western Symphony mare Western Jade, Broadway Lad came from well back beat the punter's choice Birdman $4.20 for Tony McEvoy and rider Mark Pegus. Being returned at $21 Parmigiana was another neck away filling the minor placing for John Hyam and apprentice Claudia Lions.

The Victorian combination of Flemington based trainer Danny O'Brien and rider Mark Pegus tasted victory when the $2.10 favourite Fabulist came from a mid field position to record a neck win in the 1200 metre seventh race.

Sired by Savabeel from the Centaine matron Fontaine, Fabulist beat the Roy Rogers cared for Adrian Patterson mount Exalted Lady $8. Always Discreet $12 was another two and a quarter lengths away third for Michael Hickmott and Libby Hopwood.

In an exciting finish the Nickelmine seven year old grey gelding Fast Frank $8 delivered trainer Daniel Clarken and his apprentice Lauren Stojakovic a nose victory in race eight which was run over 1600 metres.

From Yuppeckiar Lady, a Kingston Mill mare, Fast Frank settled in second position before going on to claim victory over the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas trained and their apprentice Jackson Matthews ridden Ottana $5.

Unser $5.50 was farther half neck away third for Tony McEvoy and Mark Pegus.

Starting at $31 and recording a long neck win for trainer Bill Bogarts and apprentice Amy Herrmann, Under The Radar brought racing to a close in the 1200 metre final event.

Sired by the New Zealand bred Suresh from the Black Zephyr mare Zephyr Love, Under The Radar came from a mid field position to beat Tuscan Breeze, the $3.20 equal favourite with the unplaced Secret Vintage, for visiting Darwin trainer Stephen Brown and rider Simon Price. Miss Remarkable $26 was another three quarters of a length away third for Roslyn Day and Adrian Patterson.
