Wednesday's Gawler Races Report

In spite of the day not being very good to punters with only two outright favourites and one equal favourite winning the inaugural Run to the Vines Race Day meeting at Gawler on Wednesday was quiet successful.

Lady riders were well represented with Libby Hopwood, Amy Hermann and Lauren Stojakovic riding a winner each. Libby Hopwood was the first of the girls to meet with success when she brought up her fourth win from five rides for the Peter Moody stable guiding Conciliate $4.20 to a three quarters of a length win in the 1700 metre opening event.

Sired by the Japanese bred Tayasu Tsuyoshi from the Toy Pindarri mare Apeasment, Conciliate settled well and, maintaining a forward position, went on to beat the John Dunn mentored Adrian Patterson ridden Fantastic Reign $7.

Get Around Girl $7 was a farther one and three quarter lengths away third for Garret Lynch and Dale Evans.

Breaking through for her first win from seven starts Californian Devil, the $2.25 public elect, gave her trainer Phillip Stokes and rider Paul Gatt a half length win in race two which was run over 1200 metres.

From the Devaraja mare Devils At Play and sired by Californian, Californian Devil came from fourth to defeat the Gary Searle trained Adrian Patterson ridden Silken Thread $6.

Romantic Miss $21 was a farther one and a quarter lengths away third for Brenton Jones and Wayne Kerford.

After being well back in the early stages the Kurt sired Independent Air, from the Ark Regal mare Dicey Reilly, gave Murray Bridge mentor Simon Casey and rider Simon Price a half neck win in race three which was contested over 1200 metres.

Starting at $7 Indepentent Air defeat the Richard Jolly trained Paul Gatt ridden Alcohol $3.20.

Social Gaze $7 was another two and a quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Ken Sweeney and apprentice Scott Westover.

Starting at $3.10 the Golden Lake sired Imperial Fury, from the Made Of Gold mare Dubloons, will have her next run in a 1000 metre event on the Parks track at Morphettville on December 3.

Winning the 1100 metre fourth race for trainer Stuart Padman and apprentice Jackson Matthews, Imperial Fury came from well back and beat the Samantha Barr trained Michael Hoppo ridden The Boilermaker $31.

Just Push On $101 was another short half head away third for the local training combination of Kerri McAnulty and Clint Binnie and rider Justin Potter.

After running second at its previous start, also on this track, Faineant $6.50 gave his Mount Gambier trainer Dean Saxon and rider Justin Potter a one and a quarter length victory in the 2100 metre fifth race.

A Quest for Fame gelding from the Anabaa mare Easy Out, Faineant started well and settled into a midfield position before drifting back to last and was able to muster enough speed once again and powered home to defeat the Grant Young prepared Paul Gatt ridden Birchmore Road $4.60.

Tristacat $5 was a farther half length away third for Jon O'Connor and Jordan Frew.

Dean Saxon said that Faineant is still eligible for a similar type provincial race but he will give him a try in city company over the Christmas period before sending him out for a spell.

The John Dunn prepared Amy Herrmann ridden Dubai Vengeance $19 scored a one and a quarter length win in the 1700 metre sixth race to the dismay of favourite punters.

A Dubai Destination four year old gelding from the Snaadee mare Vengadame, Dubai Vengeance was well placed and went on to beat the Mark Kavanagh cared for Shayne Cahill ridden Bellunese $4.20.

Handsome As $6 was another neck away third for Roslyn Day and Adrian Patterson.

Being well placed Miss Remarkable $4 gave her trainer Roslyn Day and apprentice Jordan Frew a long neck win in the 1200 metre seventh race.

A Redoubtable four year old mare from the Chest Mark mare Quick Mark, Miss Remarkable defeated the Ken Sweeney charge Jeffrey Maund ridden Quick Thoughts $20.

Our Destination $201 was a farther short neck away third for John Dunn and Amy Herrmann.

Lauren Stojakovic brought up the third win for the ladies and the lot of punters improved when the $5 equal favourite Invincible Magic, with the unplaced Greybrow, was the three quarters of a length winner of the 1100 final event.

Being under the care of Daniel Clarken and sired by the Irish bred entire Invincible Spirit, from the Geiger Counter matron Magic Ribbon, Invincible Magic came from a backward position and gradually improved going on to beat the Jackson Matthews ridden Gary Searle trained Canny Prevail $8.

Arctic Cash $11 was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Georgie Henderson and Scott Westover.
