Gawler Races Report

The Emma Hubbard prepared Todd Pannell guided Major De, the $1.85 favourite, broke its maiden status at its thirteenth start when it won the opening event of 2122 metres at Gawler on Wednesday.

Checote $26 was another two and a quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Geoff Bugg and Lar Cribben.

Matthew Neilson brought up the first leg of a race to race double when the $2 favourite American Trilogy was the well placed winner of the 1211 metre fourth race.

Trained by Angaston based mentor Tony McEvoy and starting the $2 favourite the Elvstroem sired American Trilogy, form the Pompeii Court mare Clever Zoe, beat the two dead heaters Golden Lion $26 for the combination of Kym Buick and Dale Evans and Windsor Gardens $4.40 for Rebecca Hodgson and Jordan Frew.

Matthew Neilson brought up a race to race double when The Catcher, the $2.50 favourite, gave local trainer Lisa Ryan a two length win in race five which was run over 1716 metres.

Being well placed the Falvelon fathered The Catcher form the Lion Hunter mare Chasing Butterflys beat Golden Schnaps $5.50 for horse carer John Macmillan and rider Libby Hopwood.

Dubai Vengeance $5.50 was another three and a quarter lengths away third for John Dunn and Amy Herrmann.

Showing a liking for the Gawler track The Princess recorded her third win from six starts at Gawler in the 1111 metre sixth race.

Trained by veteran Strathalbyn mentor Brian Mueller, raced by his wife Lorraine and having the services of Justin Potter the Bellotto sired seven year old mare from the Oenjay Star mare Olivia's Delight, The Princess $4.40 came from a mid field position and had a short neck winning margin over the Leah Conlon prepared Shayne Cahill mount Odette $7.50.

Our Little Treasure $7 was a farther one and three quarter lengths away third for the combination of Kerri McAnulty, Clint Binnie and Todd Pannell.

Starting a $5 chance Miss Remarkable put a margin of a short neck between herself and her rivals in race seven which was contested over 1211 metres.

Trained by Oakbank based Roslyn Day and having the services of apprentice Jordon Frew the Redoutable fathered Miss Remarkable, from the daughter of the Chest Mark, Quick Mark, was in touch with the leaders throughout and beat Sliver Raven $21 for horse carer Shane Coombs and apprentice Lauren Stojakovic.

The combination of John Croucher and Jeffrey Maud supplied Dark Knight $10 who was another two lengths away third.

Mentored by Richard Jolly at Morphettville the four year Commands mare Delicous Belle $4 registered a long head victory in the final event of 1511 metres.

Partnered by jockey Paul Gatt and being out of a Semipalatinsk mare Give to Thee, Delicious Belle came from a better than mid field position and recorded the victory over the Karen Byrnes trained Clare Lindop ridden Lottalago $5.50.

Bella Rossana $8.50 was another head away filling the minor placing for Stuart Gower and Jeffery Maund.
