Morphettville Twilight Races Report

A well timed race by jockey Jason Holder saw the Richard Jolly trained Apardee $3.10 score a length win in the opening event of 1950 metres.

Sired by Benicio from the Clear Choice mare Issapardee, Apardee beat the Barry Dunn prepared Mathew Neilson ridden Elancer $3.10.

After looking the winner at one stage of the event Fossicking, the $2.25 favourite, was a farther four and a half lengths away third for Ken Sweeney and Clare Lindop.

Favourite punters had an early success when the David Jolly trained Justin Potter guided Noble Success, the $2 favourite, was the one and a quarter length winner of the 1000 metre second race.

A Blevic four year old gelding from the Fraar matron Noble Lass, Noble Success came from a mid-field position and beat the $17 chance Finniss for mentor John Hyam and jockey Troy Baker.

Wine Lover $8 was another one and a quarter lengths away third for Jon O'Connor and his apprentice Nathan Rose.

The Dash For Cash sired Melba $17 recorded an all the way win for trainer Stuart Gower and rider Michael Hoppo in the 1000 metre third race.

Winning by a margin of a long neck and being out of the Rubiton mare Rubivale, Melba beat Foxy Ruby $7 for Bill Papazaharoudakis and Kate Dyson.

The $1.80 favourite Shoctonic was another long neck away third for Richard Jolly and Paul Gatt.

In a nail-biting finish Birdman $3.80 brought up two wins in succession for his trainer Tony McEvoy in the 1550 metre fifth race.

Having the services of Matthew Neilson the Centre Stalls four year old, from the Leica Kenmare mare Leica Belle, Birdman was well positioned and beat the Phillip Stokes prepared Paul Gatt guided Coustellet $4.40.

Sierra Skies $26 was a farther one and three quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Paula Trenwith and Claudia Lions.

In an exciting finish Gold Bundle, the $3.40 favourite, gave trainer Paul Seater and jockey Troy Baker a half neck victory in the 1000 metre sixth race.

Part owned by Seater's wife Sue the Keep the Faith four year old gelding, from the Danewin mare Thanks a Bundle, Gold Bundle was not very far from the lead for the entire journey and beat Miss Explosive $4.40 for mentor David Aldridge and jockey Michael Hoppo.

Aurumcert $7 was three quarters of a length away third for Jon O'Connor and Paul Gatt.

Jockey Clare Lindop brought up double when she piloted the Roy Rogers prepared Ken and Helen Smith owned Exalted Lady $10 to a half head win the 1000 metre seventh race.

The progeny of Face Value from the Southern Appeal mare Our Dear Lady Exalted Lady travelled well and beat the Bill Smart cared for Damien Robinson guided Miners Gem $11. Oui Si Attitude $6.50 was another two and three quarter lengths away third for Jon O'Connor and Todd Pannell.

After having to be content with riding the second placegetter in the previous event jockey Tod Pannell joined forces with mentor Ken Sweeney in the one and quarter length win of Bigbadbarry $8.50 in the 1250 metre final event.

A Stargazer gelding from the Zoffany mare Hungry Lass, Bigbadbarry came from a midfield position to beat the Kirsten McGowan prepared Amy Herrmann ridden Image Master $5.

Irish Cheer $10 was a farther half head away third for Sue Nolan and Shayne Cahill.
