The $2.20 favourite Conduction was another length away third for David Jolly and Paul Gatt.

After a lengthy protest Dinkum Diamond $9 gave co-trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas and rider Clare Lindop a head victory in race two which was run over 1000 metres.

Sired by Keep the Faith from the Devaraja mare Raja Lane, Dinkum Diamond came from fifth position to beat Family Portrait, the $2.05 favourite, for trainer Mick Huxtable and rider Simon Price.
