Morphettville Races Report

Assertive Eagle brought up a trio of wins when the Danewin sired filly was the three quarters of a length winner of the opening event of 1540 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Being under the care of Tony McEvoy and ridden by Matthew Neilson, the $1.80 favourite from the Lure mare Wedgetail Eagle, Assertive Eagle was well placed and went on to beat Zaeimus $3 for mentor David Balfour and rider Scott Westover.

The John Hickmott prepared Shayne Cahill guided Rich Pride $12 was a farther neck away third.

A battle royal between the winner Fast Frank and the second place getter Blackbriar saw the Daniel Clarken trained and his apprentice Lauren Stojakovic ridden Fast Frank score a long neck win in the 1600 metre second race.

From the Kingston Mill mare Yuppeckiar Lady and sired by Nickelmine Fast Frank $4.40 trailed Blackbriar throughout the race before getting the upper hand nearing the post to beat the Melanie Boothby trained Nathan Rose ridden Blackbriar $18.

Generous Beau $4 was a farther one and three quarter lengths away third for David Balfour and Jason Holder.

Starting the $3.20 favourite the Darren Weir prepared Clare Lindop ridden Fitoussi scored a three quarters of a length win in the third event which was contested over 2500 metres.

Sired by Hussonet from the Hula Chief mare It's a Miracle, Fitoussi settled in second to last place and then, going three wide in the middle stages, went on to beat the Mick Whittle mentored Adrian Patterson ridden He's Hot To Trot $9.50.

Faineant $9 was another long head away third for Mount Gambier trainer Dean Saxon and apprentice Nathan Rose.

The $4.40 chance Alpha Man gave Keith trainer Heather Lehmann and Horshan based rider Holly McKechnie a short half head win in the fourth event which was run over 1050 metres.

Sired by the USA bred Mugharreb from the Stargazer mare Chantella, Alpha Man came from a worse than mid-field position to defeat Counter Sign, the $2.10 favourite, for co-trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas and rider Clare Lindop.

Sweet Never $3.10 was a farther two lengths away third for Will Clarken and Adrian Patterson.

The David Jolly prepared Paul Gatt ridden Streetcar Reality, the $2.20 popular elect, gave punters a head victory in Race 5 which was run over 1200 metres.

Bringing up its second win in a row the Jeune King Prawn four year old gelding Streetcar Reality, by the Filante mare Stella Fille, Streetcar Reality was well placed and beat the Dion Koch prepared Scott Westover ridden Verco Road $21.

Believe in More $4.40 was another length away filling the minor placing for John Hyam and Jason Holder.

Clare Lindop brought up a double when she rode the Leon Macdonald / Andrew Gluyas trained Al Juman to a neck win in the 1200 metre sixth race.

Returned at $5.50 the Al Maher sired Al Juman, from the Snaadee maton Mabroukah, was well placed and beat Avail, also $5 .50 for mentor Mark Kavanagh and rider Adrian Patterson.

Suki $8-50 was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Susan Nolan and Scott Westover.

Steady in betting at $31 Puerto Banus gave his trainer Simon Casey and apprentice Jordan Frew a nose victory in the 1600 metre seventh race.

Fathered by Encosta de Lago from the Woodman mare Laetitia, Puerto Banus came from last to defeat the Sam Turner prepared Adrian Patterson ridden Sandhill Chief $11.

Kellerman $8.50 was a neck away third for Judy Potts and Troy Baker.

The former Darwin galloper High Finance $10 gave trainer David Balfour and rider Todd Pannell a short half head victory in the final event which was run over 1200 metres.

A Testa Rossa sired four year old gelding from the Bigstone matron Money Mover, High Finance was well placed and beat Gold Bundle $6.50 for mentor Paul Seater and rider Troy Baker.

I Am Magic $9 was a farther head away third for the combination of Kerrie Petrick and Adrian Patterson.
