RACE 1 – NZ BLOODSTOCK LTD / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD PLATE – 1250 metres:

DOUJEAN was a late scratching by Stewards, acting on Veterinary advice, at 11.40 a.m. after the gelding was found to be sore in the off hind leg.

DELLA SECCA (J. Lyon) stood flat-footed at the start, losing several lengths and was retired from the race shortly after. Trainer Mr. K. Drewitt was advised that DELLA SECCA must complete a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.

DIB’S SON (K. Louca) performed poorly and hung out badly in the vicinity of the 500 metres. Trainer Ms. A. Morrison was advised a warning had been placed on DIB’S SON in relation to its performance.

OUR DATS (K. Stra) performed poorly and finished many lengths behind the main body of the field. Trainer Ms. A. Morrison was advised a warning had been placed on OUR DATS in relation to its performance.

QUICK KEN (J. Potter) shifted in for a few strides inside the 200 metres.

RACE 2 – TOLL EXPRESS MAIDEN PLATE – 1250 metres:

Near the 800 metres LEVITE (B. Claridge), which was pulling hard, shifted out and bumped JACKSEA (C. Lindop).

Inside the 200 metres IMELDA SEA (C. Lever) showed a tendency to lay in.

Approaching the finish line LEVITE (B. Claridge) shifted in and bumped IMELDA SEA (C. Lever), at the same time as ANTIQUE EDGE (J. Bowditch) shifted out slightly. As a result, IMELDA SEA had to be steadied momentarily. B. Claridge and J. Bowditch were reminded of their obligations when their mounts commence to shift ground.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of MAKE ME A STAR revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 3 – EYRE AUTO GROUP CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1350 metres:

The start was delayed several minutes when confirmation was required that D. Tootell had weighed out at his correct weight, after the Club’s Clerk of Scales felt he may have made an error.

RORTING (J. Bowditch) was slow to begin.

ABSCENE (B. Claridge) and FREAK OUT (J. Burgess) bumped at the start.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres RORTING (J. Bowditch) shifted in and brushed ABSCENE (B. Claridge).

RACE 4 – GRAND TASMAN HOTEL FLYING HANDICAP – 1200 metres:

Shortly after straightening STAR AGLOW (K. Stra) shifted out and as a result KING’S CHOICE (D. Tootell) had to be steadied for a few strides, before switching across the heels of STAR AGLOW, to the inside. STAR AGLOW continued to shift out onto SAN QUEEN (B. Claridge), which in turn shifted out onto FLEET DAPPER (S. Price). At same time, HENRYSEE’S GOLD (C. Lindop) shifted in slightly, resulting in FLEET DAPPER (S. Price) having to be steadied. K. Stra was reprimanded and advised to have her mounts under more control when placed in a similar situation in future.

S. Price, rider of FLEET DAPPER, advised the Stewards in the early stages of the race the pace had been reasonably slow and he had elected to ride FLEET DAPPER into a forward position, hoping to end up either in the lead or outside the leader. However, the pace on his inside quickened considerably and as a result he was caught three wide, as he was unable to take a position closer to the rails, back in the field.

RACE 5 – CAPITAL CORP / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1250 metres:

BLUE PRINCESS (S. Price) knuckled at the start.

THUNDERING SEA (M. Neilson) jumped away awkwardly and brushed the outside of its starting stall.

In the vicinity of the 400 metres BLUE PRINCESS (S. Price) shifted out and as a result inconvenienced MOI (J. Potter), resulting in that gelding losing its position. S. Price was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

Inside the 200 metres THUNDERING SEA (M. Neilson) shifted out and slightly inconvenienced BLUE PRICNESS (S. Price).

RACE 6 – CARLTON DRAUGHT PORT LINCOLN CUP – 1950 metres:

Correct Weight was delayed to permit M. Neilson, rider of 3rd Placegetter GRISWALD to view the Official Stewards head-on Patrol film over the concluding stages.

SPAGET (W. Kerford) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

Near the 200 metres BROOKSIDE BELLE (C. Lindop) shifted in, resulting in GRISWALD (M. Neilson) being inconvenienced for a short distance.

POUND SHILLING (J. Marks) was disappointed for a run on two occasions in the straight.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres JIMMY’S EDGE (D. Tootell) laid in.

Subsequent to the race Veterinary examinations of JIMMY’S EDGE and LOCANDO revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 7 – FIELDERS CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1000 metres:

LANDSLIP was late scratching at 4.20 p.m. by Stewards, acting on Veterinary advice, after being cast in its barrier stall before breaking through the front and galloping riderless for some distance before being recaptured. Trainer Mrs. K. Faulds was advised that a warning had been placed on LANDSLIP in relation to its barrier manners, and further advised a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required prior to accepting for a future event.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on LANDSLIP be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 8 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE - 8 cents in the dollar.
SP Bets are not subject to the deductions.

ESKAY BOY (J. Lyon) returned with a laceration to its lip.

CHERRY BAY (C. Lever) showed a tendency to lay out from the 500 metres.

BROOKMAN (D. Tootell) laid in over the concluding stages before being disappointed for a run near the finish line.

RACE 8 – YALUMBA CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1350 metres:

KID DAPPER (N. Tomizawa) jumped out at the start and as a result CHAUDON (J. Potter) had to be checked, resulting in the gelding losing its position.

MUSGITAL (B. Dunn) laid in near the 200 metres, forcing its rider to stop riding and straighten her mount.
