Mot D'or Scores Second Stakes Win

Consistent Adelaide juvenile Mot D’or scored his second stakes win at just start number six when he swept home for a strong win in today’s $50,250 The Envelope Specialists Plate (1350m) at Cheltenham.

Trained by leading Morphettville based horseman Leon Macdonald, the youngster by Dieu D’or cleared away from his rivals over the final stages for a one and a quarter length victory.

Two starts ago the $15,000 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale purchase scored a gutsy half length win in the listed Balcrest Stakes (1000m) at Cheltenham.

Today back to the port track the gelding, who interestingly was judged the best presented colt at the 2001 sale, sent his prize earnings soaring to over $85,000 by downing the race favourite Barabba Road, a Group Two placed, last start winner.

In a field containing too high priced Easter Yearling Sale Graduates – fourth placed Isle of Gibraltar ($310,000) and La Boiselle ($1.5 million) – the success of Mot D’or was another great result for the Adelaide sale, renowned for its great value.

Over recent years the sale has produced a number of top gallopers including today’s Rosehill star Natural Blitz, multiple Group One performer Royal Code, December’s Perth Group One winner Blevvo as well as Mot D’or’s Group One winning stablemates Umrum and Gold Guru.
