* Jockey J Cameron was examined by Ambulance Officers after Race 3 and was subsequently stood down.

RACE 1 – GEOFFREY HARDMAN MEMORIAL HURDLE – 3000 METRES

SUPER CLASSIC (N Dunn) was incorrectly shown in the race book as not wearing blinkers, when in fact the gelding does.

SUPER CLASSIC (N Dunn) jumped the first hurdle awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the hurdle at the 2400 metres FLY GEORGIE (P Purcell) which was over racing had to be steadied off the heels of CHARLIE RAAMI (S Pateman) which was also over racing. 

P Purcell (FLY GEORGIE) became unbalanced and was dislodged after the mare made the hurdle at the 2400 metres awkwardly.

SUPER CLASSIC (N Dunn) made the hurdles at the 1300 and 1000 metres awkwardly as a result lost ground.

KING CANALA (NZ) (P Hamblin) and JACARANDA PARK (T Wells) hit the hurdle at the 400 metres heavily resulting in the inside panel being knocked down.

CHATSWORTH (NZ) (A Trinder) stumbled on his approach when making the last hurdle as a result hit the hurdle heavily and stumbled thereafter resulting in Jockey A Trinder being momentarily unbalanced.

All runners were inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon on return to scale.

A post race Veterinary examination of SUPER CLASSIC (Trainer M Trinder) revealed this gelding to have sustained a small cut to the off knee.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race WARPED (Trainer M Trinder).

RACE 2 –GUINOT MAIDEN PLATE  (3YO&UP SW DIV 1) – 1200 METRES

MERIDIAN BELLE (NZ) (S Brazil) was fractious in the gates and slow into stride.

As the start was affected ANGELLI (G Ryan) jumped outwards and bumped with LEICA MADONNA (J Geard (a)).

At approximately the 1000 metres ROYAL SNATCH (S Snell) shifted in marginally and bumped with DREAMS OF SANTA (L Beer) who in turn bumped with GRASJAR (K Bandy) to it inside.

MR ATTENTION (J Kehoe) layed in at the 600 metres. 

Shortly thereafter LEICA MADONNA (J Geard (a)) shifted ground outwards abruptly and carried LAKE LUCY LONG (C Kingston) wider on the track

PLUSH ROSE (S Maskiell) raced greenly from entering the home straight to the winning post.

Jockey L Goodrick reported CLANCY QUEST layed out from the 600 metres to the winning post.

JAIL KAT (Trainer D Brazendale) appeared to have a very short action during its preliminary.  JAIL KAT was examined by the vet at the barriers, and was passed fit and allowed to take its place in the field.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race AUTUMN WISH (Trainer T Roles).

RACE 3 – JOHN DAKIN FINANCIAL SERVICES  MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UP SW DIV 2) – 1200 METRES

Jockey L Beer was fined $25.00 under AR 175 (k) negligence, for presenting in the mounting yard in the wrong colours.

At approximately the 950 metres SEVEN SEAS (K Boxall (a) shifted ground inwards abruptly making heavy contact with the running rail before breaking through it, resulting in Apprentice Boxall being dislodged.  Apprentice Boxall was taken to hospital for observation.  Stewards advised trainer A Wyllie that SEVEN SEAS would be stood down until such time as it trials satisfactorily.  A post race Veterinary examination of SEVEN SEAS (Trainer A Wyllie) revealed several minor lacerations and one severe cut to the near hind leg sustained whilst crashing through the running rail.  A Veterinary certificate will be required prior to this filly’s next official trial or race start.

LADY OF ROHAN (D Pires) was contacted by the broken running rail, after the rail flicked back into the path of LADY OF ROHAN.

AL CIELO (S Gates) over raced and threw its head in the air at start.

BIG CHEESE (S Snell) was held up for a run in the home straight.

A post race Veterinary examination of WOEWODIN (Trainer L Wells) revealed this gelding to have sustained a laceration to the base of the right ear.

RACE 4 – CASCADE DRAUGHT MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UP SW DIV 1)  – 1400 METRES

In the home straight WYRELL (S Snell) when shifting ground out to obtain a clear run, bumped with AXIOM (S Hamer (a)).

TULFARRIS (G Ryan) over raced in the middle stages of the event.

At approximately the 1000 metres MISS QUCKSCORE (J Kehoe) shifted ground outwards as a result carried HILLTOP SUPREME (S Gates) out onto TANGLED (D Pires).  Jockey J Kehoe was shown the film and reminded of his obligations when shifting ground in future.

RACE 5 – GLOSS MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UP SW DIV 2)  – 1400 METRES

GARLAND GREY (G Ryan) proved a little difficult to load into the barrier.

SOLIS (J Geard (a)) threw its had in the air at the start and lost some ground.

DIPLOMATIC TERTIAN (J Borrett) jumped the crossing at the 800 metres.

QUEEN OF DENMARK (S Gates) was held up for a run rounding the home turn.

Rounding the home turn MATTINGLY (G Hodges(a)) shifted in abruptly as a result inconvenienced DIPLOMATIC TERTIAN (J Borrett).  MATTINGLY continued to race green thereafter.

BUILTH WELLS (P Michaelides) which tailed the field, and was eased down over the concluding stages, underwent a post race veterinary examination, which revealed no obvious abnormalities.  Stewards intend to speak to Trainer C Jordan over the horse’s performance in the near future, as Trainer Jordan had left the course.

Jockey C Kingston reported that WESTERN CHEER over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

A post race Veterinary examination of MATTINGLY (Trainer J Blacker) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race MATTINGLY (Trainer J Blacker).

RACE 6 – SKYY BLUE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 2100 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from the following horses; IRISH GREY (Trainer R Carr), STAR OF PERSIAN (GB) (Trainer D Brunton), OUT OF SYNC (Trainer C Crook), ATWESTCO (Trainer T Roles) and WIITIKO (Trainer R Goldsmith).

COOL ADDICTION (M Ball (a)) was a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2.40pm when it bucked on several occasions dislodging the rider.  All monies on COOL ADDICTION to be refunded.  All win and place bets made prior to the withdrawal to be paid on face value of the ticket less 2 cents in the dollar for a win and 2 cents in the dollar for a place.

Jockey S Snell (SQUANDERMANIA) advised stewards that was fractious in the barrier and reared on jumping

IRISH GREY (S Maskiell) jumped outwards at the start onto SKIPPYANDERIC (G Hodges (a)) as a result SKIPPYANDERIC lost a little ground.

Jockey B McCoull (STAR OF PERSIAN (GB)) reported that his mount wanted to lay out over the concluding stages

OUT OF SYNC (T Atkin) layed in in the home straight and brushed with running rail.

A post race Veterinary examination of STAR OF PERSIAN (GB) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 7 – MCKILLOP INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS 2 HANDICAP  –  1400 METRES

BRAEQUEST (J Nevin) layed in in the home straight

Jockey S Maskiell reported ASA GREY had a tendency to lay out in the home straight.

A post race Veterinary examination of MILLIONAIRE MAX (Trainer L Gaffney) revealed no obvious abnormalities. 

RACE 8 – TATTERSALL’S GEORGE ADAMS PLATE (Listed WFA) – 1600 METRES

The announcement of correct weight was delayed when the riders of the second place getter, A DREAMER (B McCoull) and 5th place getter LONELY SHORE (S Snell) wished to view the official film with a view to lodging protests.  After viewing the film, Jockey S Snell lodged a protest against first (STUYVESANT) and second place getter (A DREAMER) for alleged interference over the concluding stages.  Jockey B McCoull lodged a protest against the first place getter (STUYVESANT) for alleged interference over the concluding stages.  After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official film, Stewards dismissed all protests as they were of the belief that STUYVESANT had made considerable ground from well back in the field and had shifted in when passing Lonely Shore and A Dreamer.  The Stewards were also of the opinion that the material extent of the interference did not exceed the margins at the end of the race.  

Jockey C Kingston was found guilty under AR 137 (a) careless riding in that over the concluding stages he allow his mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of LONELY SHORE  (S Snell) resulting in that horse being checked, thereafter he continued to shift ground inwards and bumped with A DREAMER (B McCoull).  Stewards suspended Jockey C Kingston’s licence to ride in races for a period of race meetings in Tasmanian to commence at midnight 23 February until midnight 6 March 2005.

JAY KAY BEE (J Borrett) jumped out at the start onto CHARDERE (S Maskiell) and ALMOST SPRING (K Dodge).

JAY KAY BEE (J Borrett) and LONELY SHORE (S Snell) over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

At approximately the 800 metres STORM YACHT (G Ryan) had to be steadied off the heels of A DREAMER (B McCoull).

ZARINA BOY (D Pires) was held up for a clear run over the concluding stages.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race STUYVESANT (Trainer G White).

A post race Veterinary examination of CHARDERE (Trainer D Baldock) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 9 – DON HEADS CLASS 4 HANDICAP

ENCOSTA NOVA (C Kingston) reared prior to the start, a subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities and this gelding was passed fit to take its place in the field.

ENCOSTA NOVA (C Kingston) was slow away.

KOJIRO (J Borrett) over raced in the middle stages of the event.

RACE 10 – THE CITY OF LAUNCESTON FILLIES & MARES CLASS 4 HCP – 1200 METRES

MIMOSA WILLOW (T Atkin) showed no early speed.

TOTNESS (S Hamer (a)) and NO REMITTANCE (G Ryan) bumped near the 700 metres.

FLORIAN (D Pires) was held up at the top of the home straight behind HAIL THE GANG (L Beer).

At approximately the 150 metres INASNIP (S Snell) had to be momentarily steadied by its rider when TOTNESS (S Hamer (a)) shifted ground outwards.
