*Jockey Dodge was hit in the eye with a clod of dirt and lost vision. Was inspected by the ambulance officers and was stood down from riding. K Dodge must supply a medical certificate before riding in trackwork, trials or races.

 

RACE 1 – FINE PRINTERS SUPERVOBIS 3YO CL6 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES 

OUR BONNIE LAD (S Snell) jumped out at the start and made contact with DUCHESS OF FUHR (J Borrett).

 

FANTA’S RETURN (J Cameron) struck a pacific gull at approximately the 900 metre mark.

 

FULL VELOCITY (K Dodge) made the crossing at the 800 metre mark awkwardly.

 

PORTLAND PROPHET (D Yendall) was held up entering the home straight, and at approximately the 300 metre mark was momentarily hampered when FULL VELOCITY (K Dodge) shifted ground outwards.

 

DUCHESS OF FUHR (J Borrett) was held up in the home straight behind REAL ACE (M Ball (a)). 

 

Jockey Snell stated that OUR BONNIE LAD began well but was then unable to hold a forward position and when asked to improve was slow to react until it was pulled wider on the track.  He was of the opinion that the gelding may have been slightly lame on pulling up.  A post race Veterinary examination of OUR BONNIE LAD (Trainer G Blacker) revealed the gelding to be slightly lame in the off fore.  Trainer Blacker was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to this gelding’s next official barrier trial or race start.

 

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race BRAEQUEST  (Trainer K Laurence).

 

RACE 2 – FINE PRINTERS MAIDEN PLATE  (3YO&UP SW DIV 1) – 1200 METRES

 

The start of this race was delayed for 5 minutes due to WINDY NIGHT (P Michaelides) proving difficult to load into the barrier stall.  Stewards advised Trainer C Jordan that this gelding had been stood down from racing until it trials to the satisfaction of Stewards on two consecutive occasions.

 

WESTERN CHEER (C Kingston) jumped out and bumped with LAMBETH LASS (S Hamer (a)).

 

At the start CALIOCHA (D Yendall) jumped out and bumped with WINDY NIGHT (P Michaelides).

 

WINDY NIGHT (P Michaelides) failed to show any early pace.

 

At approximately the 400 metre mark SAHARA STAR (S Snell) was awkwardly placed on the heels of LITTLE ROBO (J Nevin).

 

At approximately the 250 metre mark GALAHAD’S GOLD (B McCoull) layed in and tightened COTSWOLD BLUE CAMI (L Goodrick) in onto SAHARA STAR (S Snell) who layed out away from MERIDIAN BELLE (NZ) (S Brazil), who was also laying out.  As a result COTSWOLD BLUE CAMI was again inconvenienced.

 

GALAHAD’S GOLD (B McCoull) layed in in the home straight despite the efforts of its rider.

 

A post race Veterinary examination of LAMBETH LASS (Trainer B Campbell) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

 

A post race Veterinary examination of WINDY NIGHT (Trainer C Jordan) revealed nasal discharge. This gelding has been stood down from racing to a veterinary certificate of soundness.

 

RACE 3 – FOOT AND PLAYSTED PRINTERS MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UP SW DIV 2) – 1200 METRES

 

The start of this race was delayed for 2 minutes due to the barrier manners of GARLAND GREY (K Boxall (a)).  Stewards advised Trainer B Dalco that a warning had been placed on this gelding.

 

GRASJAR (M Ball (a)) stumbled on jumping.

 

AL CIELO  (J Geard) raced greenly throughout.

 

At approximately the 200 metre mark PIRATE’S SIRENE (K Dodge) shifted ground inwards and inconvenienced ERBULOBO (J Cameron), at the same time AL CIELO (J Geard) who was racing greenly shifted ground inwards then outwards abruptly.

 

ROYAL SNATCH (S Snell) was held up in the home straight.

 

FAFF (J Borrett) was held up rounding the home turn until approximately the 150 metre mark.

 

RACE 4 – F & W STEWART SILVER INGOT 2YO HANDICAP – 1100 METRES

 

BIOLOGICAL BOSS (S Snell) was slow to muster early speed.

 

ESPARTO (K Dodge) jumped awkwardly, and at approximately the 800 metre mark raced erratically for some distance.

 

MAKEVINA (C Kingston) layed out in the home straight.

Approaching the 150 metre mark MUSICOLOGY (D Yendall) resented the whip and raced greenly.

 

Jockey B McCoull (KOSTA DIAMOND) stated than in the home straight, when attempting to ride his mount out, the gelding wanted to continually shift ground inwards.

 

RACE 5 – R J FOOT CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

 

FOREVER ROSE (J Kehoe) stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground.  Stewards informed Trainer Dalco that if the mare’s barrier manners do not improve, they will take action.

 

MILLIONAIRE MAX (S Snell) jumped in at the start and made contact with BRAGANZA (D Yendall).

 

MOXOON (K Dodge) was held up for a clear run in the home straight behind BRAGANZA (D Yendall).

 

Approaching the 200 metre mark CHU FENG (J Borrett) was held up for a clear run when MILLIONAIRE MAX (S Snell) which was racing to its inside shifted out marginally and at the same time WELL RELATED (T Atkin) to the outside rolled in marginally.  Shortly after this incident MILLIONAIRE MAX shifted back towards the rail resulting in MOXOON (K Dodge) which was following being held up for a clear run.  During this incident CHU FENG was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of Jockey Snell (MILLIONAIRE MAX).

 

Over the concluding stages CHU FENG (J Borrett) had to be eased off the heels of WELL RELATED (T Atkin) and CHU FENG was obliged to shift wider on the track to obtain a clear run.

 

Jockey Snell (MILLIONAIRE MAX) reported his mount over raced throughout.

 

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race BOUNDARY ROAD  (Trainer J Blacker).

 

RACE 6 – BLOODHORSE BREEDERS SUPERVOBIS 3YO F CL6 HCP – 1600 METRES

 

NORELLA jumped out at the start bumping with DUCHESS OF HARTS (J Borrett) and WHISKEY WOMAN (D Pires).

 

NORELLA (B McCoull) was held up for a run rounding the home turn behind WHISKEY WOMAN (D Pires).

 

ON CURFEW (T Atkin) layed out rounding the home turn.

Stewards questioned Trainer R Goldsmith and Jockey B McCoull into the apparent disappointing performance of NORELLA.  Trainer Goldsmith was of the opinion that the horse may have needed the run, as the horse had not started for some time.  Jockey McCoull was of the same opinion, but further added that the filly did not handle being held up at the top of the straight and when racing tight inside other horses.

A post race Veterinary examination of NORELLA (Trainer R Goldsmith) revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 

RACE 7 – FOOT & PLAYSTED TASMANIAN ST LEGER (Listed)  – ABOUT 2100 METRES

 

Declaration of correct weight was delayed when Apprentice Ball (IRISH GREY) wished to view the official film of the start of the race, as he was of the opinion that the filly’s foot was stuck in the barrier structure and therefore did not gain a fair start.  After viewing the official film, speaking to the Starter and Barrier Attendant Paul Street, Stewards declared IRISH GREY a non-runner, due to being disadvantaged at the start when its off fore leg was caught in the barrier structure and correct weight was declared.  All monies were ordered to be refunded and no deductions paid.

IRISH GREY (M Ball (a)) and ALMOST SPRING (S Brazil) were both slow into stride.

 

IRISH GREY (M Ball (a)) over raced in the early stages of the event.

 

DAKASHA (C Lindop) over raced in the early and middle of the event and brushed the running rail on several occasions when rounding the 1200 metre turn.

 

Approaching the turn at the 1750 metre mark OUR DASHING DANE (C Puls) had to be steadied by its rider when MIDORI DANCER (S Snell) was carried in by DAKASHA (C Lindop) which had rolled in. Jockey C Lindop was reminded of her obligation when allowing her mount to shift ground in future.

 

In the home straight KRAVITZ (T Atkin) layed in and bumped with STAR JEUNE(C Kingston).

 

Jockey Snell (MIDORI DANCER) reported his mount stumbled on several occasions during the event.

 

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race DAKASHA (Trainer L MacDonald).

 

A post race Veterinary examination of DREAM QUEST (Trainer B Campbell) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

 

RACE 8 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS AUSTRALIA LTD HCP – 1400 METRES

 

Declaration of correct weight was delayed when the rider of the second place getter Jockey D Yendall (STORM YACHT) wished to view the official photo finish.  After viewing the photo finish, Jockey Yendall was satisfied, and correct weight was declared.

 

A post race Veterinary examination of SUPER CLASSIC (Trainer M Trinder) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

 

RACE 9 – W I PLAYSTED CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

 

Jockey Snell was fined the sum of $25.00 under AR 175 (k) for presenting in the mounting yard in the incorrect colours.

 

ENCOSTA NOVA (C Kingston), TOTNESS (J Borrett) and GORDON HIGHLANDER (B McCoull) bumped on jumping.

 

Approaching the 300 metre mark ENCOSTA NOVA (C Kingston) was held up when attempting an inside run.

 

A post race Veterinary examination of CALANTE LAD (Trainer T Roles) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

 

A post race Veterinary examination of SPEC OF SILVER (NZ) (Trainer S Davis) revealed no obvious abnormalities.
