* Jockey Christie Burt was transported to hospital by the on-course ambulance for observation following the fall in Race 2. Stewards will advised Jockey Burt that she is to present a medical certificate which declares her fit to ride before she resumes riding in track work, trials or races.

RACE 1 - WHITTLE WARD SUPERVOBIS (TAS) 2-Y-O - MAIDEN PLATE

SET WEIGHTS - 1200 METRES - 9 RUNNERS

Trainer Gary White was charged $27.50 for the use of the Club’s colours on HARPIST.

The start was delayed several minutes when CRYSTAL QUI (C Burt) proved difficult to load.

ALAMEEN’S PRINCESS (B McCoull) jumped out at the start and momentarily inconvenienced SAVILLE (C Kingston) which lost some ground in consequence.

BORN A QUEEN (B McCoull) jumped outwards at the start. At the same time SUPER SCAY (J Borrett) jumped inwards. Both horses contacted QUEE DEE (J Nevin A).

HARPIST (S Snell) shifted in and away from PLAZA WEST (S Maskiell) approaching the 1000 metres without causing any interference.

Approaching the 500 metres CRYSTAL QUI (C Burt) laid in, momentarily inconveniencing ALAMEEN’S PRINCESS (D Pires A).

BORN A QUEEN (B McCoull) was held up for a clear run in the straight behind tiring runners in front.

It was reported to Stewards that ALAMEEN’S PRINCESS had cast her near hind plate in running.

A post-race veterinary inspection of PLAZA WEST (Trainer Charlie Goggin) revealed the filly to have a slow heart/respiratory rate recovery.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race HARPIST (Trainer Gary White).

RACE 2 - PARMIC FIRE PROTECTION MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE

DIVISION 1 - SET WEIGHTS - 1600 METRES - 11 RUNNERS

SONAR DREAM (B McCoull) was slow away.

Approaching the 1200 metre mark, BIONIC BOY (K Sanderson), when awkwardly placed on the heels of LANGKAWI (J Borrett) and after receiving some pressure from SQUIRE MOORE (S Tsaikos) to his inside who shifted out slightly when placed awkwardly on the heels of PRINCE OF PARADE (D Pires A), shifted ground outwards bumping with AT ST GEORGES (C Burt), who had a tendency to over-race at the time, resulting in this horse becoming tightened for galloping room between this horse and RUTHAIN (J Nevin A). Shortly thereafter PRINCE ON PARADE (D Pires A) when awkwardly placed on the heels of HEARTLESS (S Maskiell) contacted the inside running rail and shifted outwards, dropped back in the field and contacted with SQUIRE MOORE (S Tsaikos) to its outside and in turn carried this horse onto BIONIC BOY (K Sanderson) who made contact with AT ST GEORGES (C Burt). As a result, AT ST GEORGES (C Burt) stumbled and dislodged its rider. As a result of this incident, SONAR DREAM (B McCoull) who was following, was inconvenienced.

At about the 700 metre mark, both RIVIERA PRINCE (E Chan A) and HEARTLESS (S Maskiell) were inconvenienced by the riderless horse (AT ST GEORGES).

A post-race veterinary inspection of AT ST GEORGES (Trainer Terence Evans) failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RACE 3 - BELLS CONSTRUCTION & TECHNOLOGIES CLASS 2

HANDICAP - 2100 METRES - 7 RUNNERS

This race was delayed several minutes as a result of the on-course ambulance having to take Jockey C Burt, who had fallen in the previous event, to hospital for observation and the replacement ambulance not being on the course as yet. It was also delayed in order not to clash with a harness race scheduled at Albury.

ELUSIVE LASS (D Pires A) pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.

A post-race veterinary inspection of ISLE OF EASE revealed that this mare had bled from both nostrils. Trainer John Luttrell was advised of the provisions of AR-53A (4) and ISLE OF EASE may not be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two (2) months and it may not start in any race for a period of three (3) months effective 02/03/2003, whereafter it is to satisfactorily trial over at least 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race CHOKITO (Trainer Barry Campbell).

RACE 4 - FHRC PTY LTD MAIDEN PLATE - DIVISION 1 - SET WEIGHTS

3-Y-O & UPWARDS - 1100 METRES - 12 RUNNERS

MANSE (K Sanderson) jumped in at the start and contacted with BOURBON PRINCESS (S Snell). At the same time, HYDE (S Tsaikos) jumped inwards and contacted with CLASS MAN (K Cook).

RACER’S BEST (B McCoull) and JOIN THE QUEUE (C Kingston) made contact shortly after the start.

Rounding the home turn, QUICK AS A BLINK (D Keating A) was awkwardly placed on the heels of GOLD SEQUEL (L Goodrick) for a short distance.

JOIN THE QUEUE (C Kingston) laid in in the straight which resulted in Jockey Kingston having to stop riding and straighten his mount at about the 100 metre mark.

A post-race veterinary inspection of MANSE (Trainer John Blacker) revealed the gelding to have some blood in its mouth from an abrasion to its gum from the upper left incisor.

A post-race veterinary inspection of OUTLAW LASSIE (Trainer Bill Ryan) failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race GOLD SEQUEL (Trainer Chris Crook).

RACE 5 - JMK CONSTRUCTION GROUP MAIDEN PLATE - DIVISION 2

SET WEIGHTS - 3-Y-O & UPWARDS - 1100 METRES - 11 RUNNERS

MATSQUI BOY (Trainer Len Watling) was a late scratching at 2.29 pm by order of Stewards when there was no rider available to replace Jockey C Burt who was injured in the fall in Race 2.

POETIC DANCE (J Borrett) jumped sideways at the start and lost several lengths.

BLUE BIALIA (D Keating A) jumped outwards at the start. At the same time, JETBOY JUNIOR (S Maskiell) jumped inwards, making contact with AMU DARYA (K Sanderson)

IAM IAM (R Bradley A) was slow into stride, losing several lengths.

Approaching the 600 metre mark, GIZO (J Nevin A) shifted ground marginally, bumping with SOMERVILLE STAR (S Tsaikos) causing that gelding to race awkwardly on the heels of QUEST FOR GOLD (C Kingston) and GIZO (J Nevin A) before being steadied by its rider.

SOMERVILLE STAR (S Tsaikos) and MALLOW (D Pires A) had a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.

IAM IAM (R Bradley A) trailled the field. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the filly to have a laceration on its off-side nostril after hitting the side of its head in the barriers.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race PRINCESS OF NIME (Trainer John Luttrell).

RACE 6 - HYDRO TASMANIA CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

7 RUNNERS

SHEEDS (D Pires A) jumped outwards at the start and bumped with TURBULENT FORCE (D Parish).

AERIAL PURSUIT (D Keating A) laid in over the concluding stages and had to be straightened by its rider in consequence.

Stewards questioned Jockey D Parish, the rider of TURBULENT FORCE in relation to this horse’s apparent poor performance. Jockey Parish stated that in her view, the break between TURBULENT FORCE’S run on 10 February 2003 and today’s date may have taken the edge off this horse and that in her opinion, the horse is better suited when its races are placed closer together. Stewards intend to question Trainer N Richardson in relation to this report.

A post-race veterinary inspection of TURBULENT FORCE (Neil Richardson) failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race WEST QUEST BOY (Trainer Allan Stubbs).

RACE 7 - HOBART GLASS & ALUMINIUM MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE

DIVISION 2 - SET WEIGHTS - 1600 METRES - 11 RUNNERS

REGENT PRINCE (E Chan A) was slow into stride.

DON SERENE (S Maskiell) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

At approximately the 500 metre mark DURRENMATT (S Snell) shifted off the rails to obtain a clear run and in doing so bumped with SPIT THE PIP (J Nevin A) which in turn inconvenienced SOUTHERN PORT (S Tsaikos) and DON SERENE (S Maskiell).

At approximately the 350 metre mark DURRENMATT (S Snell) shifted towards the rail and in doing so VAIN DANE (L Goodrick) had to be momentarily steadied by its rider.

At approximately the 200 metre mark, REGENT PRINCE (E Chan A) shifted ground inwards in an attempt to obtain a clear run and momentarily inconvenienced VAIN DANE (L Goodrick). Apprentice Chan was shown the video of the incident in the presence of his master Mr G White and advised to ensure that there is sufficient room before taking runs in the future.

At approximately the 850 metre mark SOUTHERN PORT (S Tsaikos) rolled in momentarily before being steadied off the heels of ANTONIO (K Bandy).

RACE 8 - ROTARY CLUB OF GLENORCHY CLASS 1 HANDICAP

1100 METRES - 11 RUNNERS

COVINGTON (E Chan A) threw its head in the air at the start.

Approaching the 600 metre mark until entering the home straight, COVINGTON (E Chan A) laid in.

GO SUPER GO (K Bandy) was slightly inconvenienced at about the 500 metre mark.

A post-race veterinary inspection of STORM RAJ (Trainer Steve Griffiths) failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

GENERAL

Apprentice David Pires was incorrectly shown in the race book as claiming 3 kilograms when in fact he claims 1.5 kilograms.

Apprentice J Nevin was also incorrectly shown in the race book as claiming 3 kilograms when in fact he claims NIL.

Trainer Mr G E Blacker advised Stewards that Trainer Mr Troy Blacker will be acting on behalf of and taking responsibility for his runner, KONISHIKI at today’s race meeting.

Jockey Kane Bandy submitted a medical certificate which declared him fit to fulfil his riding engagements at today’s race meeting.

Jockey P Michaelides pleaded guilty to a charge under AR-120(b) in that he failed to draw the correct weight on AT ST GEORGES (Race 2) and SPIT THE PIP (Race 7) and was subsequently suspended for a period to commence midnight tonight (Sunday, 2 March 2003) and to expire at midnight on Sunday, 23 March 2003. In coming to this penalty, Stewards considered various factors and submissions made by Jockey Michaelides on his own behalf and in the circumstances Stewards were satisfied that this was an appropriate penalty.

Jockey S Maskiell was found guilty to a charge under AR-120(b) in that he failed to draw the correct weight on RUSSIAN STYLE (Race 3) and was subsequently fined the sum of $100.

Apprentice J Nevin pleaded guilty to a charge under AR-120(b) in that he failed to draw the correct weight on COVINGTON (Race 8) and was subsequently fined the sum of $100.
