Delago Brom covered plenty of ground in the Guineas Prelude last start, the son of Encosta De Lago (winner of this race in 1996), defeating the Prelude winner Great Glen in the Vain Stks the start before and sure to be well suited by the 1600m of this race. Also luckless in the Prelude was NSW-trained Half Hennessy, the colt highly impressive in carrying 60kg in the Ming Dynasty in his previous outing. Hes had one start at 1600m 2nd in this years G1 Champagne Stakes to stablemate Victory Vein. Despite still being a Maiden, Helenus is a major prospect, the son of the 1996 Prix de lArc de Triomphe winner Helissio heading towards the Derby, five Derby winners having contested the Stutt over the past decade.
