"Annunciare" began awkwardly, shifted in and hampered "Shell" and "Venetta".

Near the 300 metres "Athapascan Show" became unbalanced and brushed "Rail Rox" after shifting in away from "Blue Jewel", which was laying in.

In the straight "Blue Jewel" laid in under pressure.

B. Prebble, rider of Ginger", stated that the filly commenced to weaken quickly when put under pressure near the 600 metres, and then failed to respond to his riding after that. B. Prebble eased the filly down in the straight. A veterinary examination of "Ginger" revealed that the filly was showing stiffness in its hindquarters. Miss R. "Get Ready for This", which had reared over at the barrier, was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.

Acting on a report from the Starter that "Get Ready for This" had proved difficult to load in the starting stalls, the Stewards notified Ms Monica Cid, part-owner/trainer of the filly, that a warning was being placed on "Get Ready for This" for its behaviour today, and should it behave in a similar manner in future more severe action may be taken. Ms Cid was further notified that prior to the filly racing again she must produce a current barrier certificate for "Get Ready for This".

Near the 500 metres "Get Ready for This" was hampered when tightened for room by "Windmere", which was taken in by "Kota Kinabalu (NZ)", which shifted in abruptly.

Rounding the home turn "Martian Miss" was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
