Race 1 - HARKAWAY HOMES THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE (1) - 1000 metres:

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. Peter Newcombe, trainer of "Sweet Gypsy Rose", who stated that they were unable to load the filly on to the float, the Stewards withdrew "Sweet Gypsy Rose" from the event at 10.15 a.m.

On jumping away "Old Gold for Me" knuckled.

"Modern Glory" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Champion Blitz (NZ)" and "Wild Rapid", which was taken out by "Gotrice", which shifted out on jumping away.

Shortly after jumping away "Jest Dreamin", which had begun awkwardly, had to be eased off the heels of "As a Wink", which shifted in slightly. As a result of this incident "Champion Blitz (NZ)" shifted out slightly and hampered "Allez Gallop".

Near the 600 metres "Mam Jesette" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Old Gold for Me", which shifted in.

Near the 400 metres "Raise a Darling" and "Old Gold for Me" came together due to "Old Gold for Me" shifting out in an effort to obtain a run.

For the majority of the straight "Jest Dreamin" was unable to obtain a clear run, and after passing the 200 metres shifted out and hampered "Ás a Wink".

Also after passing the 200 metres "Modern Glory" had to be checked when disappointed for a run between "She's a Monty" and "Alatac", which had shifted in.

Race 2 - HARKAWAY HOMES THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE (2) - 1000 metres:

On jumping away "Tin Arch" was initially hampered by "Sneak Peek", which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, and then had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Lord Tizer", which shifted in.

Also on jumping away "Bush Boss" was hampered when tightened for room by "Crash McGrath" which jumped away awkwardly, and shifted in abruptly.

Rounding the home turn "Bush Boss" hung out.

Near the 400 metres "Willowfield", which was hanging out, had to be checked when tightened on to "Crash McGrath" by "Royal Rule" (M. Connick), which shifted out when not sufficiently clear. In the incident "Crash McGrath" was also hampered. Whilst the Stewards did not hold M. Connick fully responsible, they advised him that he should exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 3 - CARDINIA SHIRE COUNCIL MAIDEN PLATE - 1750 metres:

After passing the winning post "Condition Red" had to be eased off the heels of "The Emperor's Hat (NZ)", which shifted in.

A B Robertson explained to the Stewards that after returning to the placegetters' stalls, he dismounted from "Zackajaywa", fifth placegetter, which then made contact with the divider on the side of the placegetters' stalls. "Zackajaywa" then forced its way through the opening at the front of the stall, and became loose in the area at the front of the stalls. "Zackajaywa", which had blinkers on, panicked and crashed over the outside rail of the placegetters' area before going through the Members' area and being caught in the birdcage area adjacent to the stripping sheds.

Due to the circumstances A. B. Robertson did not weigh in subsequent to the race. As the Stewards were satisfied that "Zackajaywa" had carried its allotted weight, correct weight was declared.

Race 4 - TABROOKE TIMBER MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres:

The starting time of this race was re-scheduled to be run at 2.15 p.m. due to there not being sufficient ambulances on course in accordance with the policy of Racing Victoria. Subsequently the race was further delayed due to an injured party having to be transported by another ambulance, and a further ambulance being required.

Shortly after jumping away "Just Precious (NZ)" got its head up, which resulted in M. Evans being struck in the head by his mount, and losing the use of his off-side stirrup iron for a short distance.

Rounding the first turn "Shenandoah (NZ)" had to be checked when brushed by "Dazzling Vintage", and shifted out towards the heels of "Pharline", which was shifting in.

Shortly after this incident "Venetian Blush" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Shenandoah (NZ)" (W. Davis) which, after being tightened and shifting out, shifted back in. W. Davis was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

In the early and middle stages of the race "Eeloh" hung out.

The Stewards amended the starting times of the following races to:

Race 5 2.52 p.m.
Race 6 3.25 p.m.

Race 8 4.35 p.m.
Race 9 5.08 p.m.

Race 5 - PAVE WORLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

"As She Does" hung out badly for the entire race, resulting in V. Duric being unable to ride his mount in his normal manner. Mr. C. Brown, trainer of "As She Does", will be notified that the Stewards will be issuing an official warning that should the mare perform in a similar manner in future the Stewards may take some action against it.

Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

An inquiry into the late notification of B. Werner as the rider of "King Salieri (NZ)" was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

In the early part of the straight "Rupert" was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

Race 7 - RIDLEY'S FILLIES & MARES CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

"South East Swamp", which was kicked by another runner in the mounting yard, was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon at the barrier and was passed fit to race.

"Tiarna's Girl", which was being transported to the races, was involved in an accident on the way to the course. It was examined at the barrier by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon who ruled that the mare was unfit to run. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Tiarna's Girl" at 3.58 p.m.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on "Tiarna's Girl" be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of "Tiarna's Girl" be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets: Two cents; Place Bets: Two cents; Winning Concession Bets: Two cents, and Doubles Bets: Two cents. All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal were ordered to be paid at face value of the ticket.

An inquiry into D. Taggart, rider of "See the Sense", weighing in one kilogram in excess of his allotted weight was adjourned to a date to be fixed as the Stewards wished to see Mr. Colin McKinley, trainer of the mare.

An inquiry into "Gala Snip" having to be checked approaching the 800 metres was adjourned to a date to be fixed as both L. Coffey, rider of "Gala Snip", and V. Duric, rider of "Geiger Force" had left the course.

An inquiry into L. Coffey and V. Duric leaving the course without obtaining a clearance form the Stewards was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Rounding the turn near the 600 metres "El Mellina" shifted out slightly, and made contact with "South East Swamp", which also shifted in slightly at this stage. "South East Swamp" was then turned in across the running of "El Mellina", resulting in it being tightened for room, hitting the running rail, and having to be checked severely and "South East Swamp" was severely hampered. The Stewards deemed the incident to be accidental.

Race 8 - HERITAGE SPRINGS CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

Shortly after the start "Thief of Time" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Kehlstein", which shifted out slightly, and "Alroy", which shifted in away from "My Main Squeeze", which shifted in slightly.
