Race 4 - Hal Hoysted - 90 Super Vobis 3 yo Maiden Plate

Guess what…another photo result! Umatrick (Umatilla-Nick The Trick) trained at Kilmore by Ashley Gillis and bred by his wife and fellow trainer Geni impressed by arriving from last to win by a head. First starters Fords Creek (North Reef-Classic Angel) & Executor (Eagle Eyed-Probate) both trained by Gerald Egan put in eye catching runs for 2nd & 3rd respectively with watch for us written all over them. The race was in honour of one of the greatest trainers we have been lucky enough to have in this district Hal Hoysted on his 90th birthday.

Hal seen here with Carole Small enjoyed the celebrations the club provided. His list of achievements include 6 Albury Cups, 7 Wangaratta Gold Cups, 2 William Reid Stakes and a CF Orr Stakes. The Queens Cup in Hobart, 24 North East training premierships and even 111 wins as a jockey. He has forgotten more about horses than most will ever know and I owe my own career as jockey and trainer to him. It has been a privilege to be guided by such a remarkable man. Hal retired as a trainer in 1993 but has kept a close eye on everything and can tell you the current form of most the horses even now.
