Oliver's Inside Move Does it Again

0817doliver.jpg (16282 bytes)Damien Oliver was back at it again at Moonee Valley today when he won the second event, the Datum Handicap, aboard the Lee Freedman trained Le Capitan.

On Saturday the leading hoop was at his best when he took an inside run to win the Group Two John Feehan Stakes with the Tony McEvoy prepared Fields of Omagh.

Four days later, while it was not a Group Two event, Oliver again aided by an inside run have the Valley patrons cheering in awe.

El Capitan, carrying the familiar Coolmore colours of Susan Magnier and Michael Tabor, made it back to back wins in the delayed 1000 metre event.

On September 1 the beautifully bred colt by Danehill broke his maiden status with a long neck win of Nip of Cognac at Werribee.

On the line El Capitan had too much in hand to beat Gold Empress, which also switched back to the inside late in the race, while Sensational Swing held on for third after leading until the straight.

Oliver then made it a race to race double when he guided Sir Pentire home to win in a driving finish in race three.
