 Race 1 - GRAND FINAL LIVE ON-COURSE HANDICAP - 1000 metres

"Fairweather" reared on jumping away and lost considerable ground.

B. Prebble, rider of "Russia House", advised the Stewards that he could offer no explanation for the poor performance of the filly, which weakened from the middle stages of the race. Prebble added that the horse had not responded to his riding at any stage of the race. A veterinary examination of "Russia House" failed to reveal any apparent abnormality.

Rounding the home turn "Danish Princess" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Russia House", which shifted out slightly when weakening, and "Jamrah", which shifted in slightly.

Race 2 - SPRING QUALITY HURDLE - About 3200 metres

No report.

Race 3 - MV WEDDING EXPO SUNDAY 6 OCTOBER HANDICAP - 2020 metres: "Ali Sting" was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race, and passed fit to run.

"Reserve Funds (NZ)" jumped away awkwardly, and became unbalanced.

Near the 600 metres "Reserve Funds (NZ)" shifted in and bumped "Lana Belle".

Rounding the home turn "Ali Sting" and "Yoling" came together.

In the early part of the straight "Live Theatre" and "Jay Vee" came together due to both horses shifting ground.

Over the concluding stages of the race "Live Theatre" shifted in and brushed "Jay Vee".

A veterinary examination of "Ali Sting" subsequent to the event failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 4 - AFL GRAND FINAL HANDICAP - 1200 metres

Rounding the home turn "I Scream" and "Dantana" came together due to "Dantana" shifting out.

D. Gauci, rider of "I Scream", advised the Stewards that he did not ride his mount in his normal manner in the straight as his mount was not handling the going, and weakened. Whilst the Stewards accepted that D. Gauci had fully tested "I Scream" in the race, they notified him that he must ride all his mounts hands and heels to the line in future.

B. Prebble, rider of "Fullarton Road", was unable to ride his mount out from the 600 metres due to the bit used on the colt breaking. The Stewards took possession of the bit used on "Fullarton Road", and will discuss the matter with its manufacturer.

Subsequent to the race the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that "Dantana" had sustained a wound to its near fore fetlock.

Race 5 - MV MEMBERSHIP NO JOINING FEE HANDICAP (1) - 2040 metres: For some distance approaching and passing the 1400 metres "Rum", which was over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of "Homewrecker (NZ)".

A veterinary examination of "The Almighty One (NZ)" subsequent to the event failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT FLYING - 1000 metres

Shortly after the start "Belus" and "Sir Dolphin" were hampered when tightened for room by "Let's Went (NZ)", which shifted in away from 'Darvolant", which shifted in slightly.

Near the 700 metres "Paris Rock" was brushed by "Curragh Star" which, when hanging, continued to shift in.

Shortly after this incident "Paris Rock" was bumped by "Curragh Star" which, when hanging, continued to shift in. At this stage "Let's Went (NZ)" shifted out slightly, and as a `result "Paris Rock" clipped the heels of "Let's Went" and fell. The Stewards considered this to be accidental, and will notify Mr. Brian Cox, trainer of "Curragh Star", in respect of that horse's erratic behaviour.

Near the 500 metres "Rich Ruby Red" was hampered when tightened for room by "Let's Went (NZ)". which shifted in slightly away from "Curragh Star", which was hanging in.

In the straight "Curragh Star" hung in, resulting in K. McEvoy, the rider of the mare, being unable to ride his horse in his normal manner.

D. Oliver, rider of "Benmore", which had performed below expectations, stated that the mare had been caught wide in the early stages of the race, and he had been unable to obtain cover. Oliver added that "Benmore" was a beaten horse from the 400 metres.

Race 7 - MV NIGHT RACING 4 OCTOBER HANDICAP (2) - 2040 metres

Approaching the winning post the first time "Chantage (NZ)" had to be eased off the heels of "Cavallo Bruno (NZ)", which shifted out away from "Aussie's Lad", which shifted out.

Rounding the home turn "Firetaine (NZ)" was hampered due to "Dot Com (NZ)" shifting out.

Approaching the winning post "Chantage (NZ)" was disappointed when attempting a run between "Our Le Bleu (NZ)" and "Cavallo Bruno (NZ)" due to both horses shifting ground.

Mr. G. Thornton, trainer of "Our Le Bleu (NZ)", was reprimanded for adding a girth sleeve to that horse's gear subsequent to M. Zahra weighing out. This resulted in M. Zahra weighing in one kilogram in excess of his declared weight.

Race 8 - BLUE RIBBON DAY WELTER - 1600 metres

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. Phillip Stokes, trainer of "Squillani", who stated that the gelding would not be able to handle the track which had been downgraded from Good to Dead, the Stewards withdrew "Squillani" from the event at 1.56 p.m.

S. King, rider of "Dashiki", stated that his horse was not suited by the track conditions today, and failed to respond to his riding when put under pressure from the 600 metres.

A veterinary examination of "Dashiki", which weakened over the concluding stages of the race, failed to reveal any apparent abnormality.

Race 9 - PREMIERS HANDICAP - 2040 metres

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. Grant Walker, trainer of "Maybe Arch", who stated that the gelding would not be able to handle the track which had been downgraded from Good to Slow, the Stewards withdrew "Maybe Arch" from the event at 3.20 p.m.

Passing the winning post the first time "All Black Symphony" and "Our Sugar Street (NZ)" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Rows of Arches", which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. S. Vella, rider of "Rows of Arches", was reprimanded and notified that he must ensure that he is clear of other runners when shifting ground in future.

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of all races today.
