Trainer Cleared Over Melbourne Bi-Carb Drama

The Stewards today received the analysts report on the pre-race blood sample taken from "Manntari Rox" which was withdrawn from the race at 3.57pm after the Stewards had received a report from the analyst.

The Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory has reported that the total carbon dioxide concentration in the second sample was 37 millimoles per litre in plasma with an uncertainty of +/- 1.2 mmols/lt resulting in a finding of 35.8 mmols/lt.

This finding is below the level at which TCO2 in plasma is declared a prohibited substance that being in excess of 36mmol/lt.

The report of the testing on race day was 37.7 mmols/lt with an uncertainty of +/- 1.2 mmols/lt resulting in a finding of 36.5 mmol/lt. That level of TCO2 in plasma is in excess of the threshold permitted under the Rules.

As that finding was not confirmed by the referee laboratory, the Stewards will take no further action.
