Race 1 - GOLD CLUB SPONSORSHIP MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres:

In the middle stages of the race Sir Broderick had a tendency to lay in.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Shelltrice was hampered and taken out off its course due to Ducasse (P.Robl) attempting to shift out to obtain a run between Heleray Star and Shelltrice when there was insufficient room. Ducasse then continued to shift out under pressure and inconvenienced Shelltrice. P. Robl was severely reprimanded and notified he must ensure that he has sufficient galloping room when attempting to take runs in the future.

Race 2 - WODONGA SUPER VOBIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres

Acting on a report from the starter that Yanga's Girl had proved difficult to load and had delayed the start of the race Stewards notified Mr R. Linnell, trainer of Yanga's Girl, that an official warning would be placed against the filly for her behaviour today and that should Yanga's Girl perform in a similar manner in the future further action may be taken against it. Mr Linnell was further notified that prior to Yanga's Girl racing again a barrier test certificate must be produced in respect of the filly.

Subsequent to the event the club's veterinary surgeon reported that Heart Attack had sustained a cut to its near hind leg during the running of the race.

Race 3 - BECOME A WODONGA MEMBER PLATE - 1400 metres

Sefton and Thunder Edition began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start Weadora had to be eased when tightened for room between Zardapper and Jagstar which shifted in. When being eased Weadora threw its head in the air and lost ground.

Near the 600 metres Nincompoop had to be checked to avoid the heels of Just Ours which shifted out when being eased off the heels of Findhorn Loon which shifted out slightly when weakening.

Near the 100 metres Sefton shifted in away from Nincompoop and in doing so inconvenienced Just Ours.

Race 4 - RACEDAY PACKAGES CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1100 metres

Race 5 -TOOHEYS NEW HANDICAP - 1400 metres

The start of the race was delayed to enable the removal of a racing plate located on the track near the 1000 metres.

After being placed in the barrier Balmy Bar broke through its front stall and cantered a short distance.

Balmy Bar was then returned to the barrier and took its place in the field.

After being placed in its stall Al Borak became fractious and then became momentarily cast. Al Borak was then removed from its stall, examined by the club's veterinary surgeon who reported that the gelding was unfit to run. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Al Borak at 3.09pm.

M. Alesci, rider of Scenic Torque, stated that he eased the gelding down in the home straight as he was concerned with Scenic Torque's action. A subsequent veterinary examination of Scenic Torque revealed no abnormalities.

Race 6 - 55 DAYS TO WODONGA CUP CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 2050 metres

In the early and middle stages of the race Centuism had a tendency to over race.

Rounding the home turn Stage Front shifted out to improve and when doing so made contact with the hindquarters of Centuism.

After passing the 200 metres B. Ward, rider of Scarpia, dropped his whip.

Over the concluding stages of the race Stage Front laid out under pressure and inconvenienced Centuism .

Race 7 - BOXING DAY PROMO CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1200 metres

Namrod was slow to begin.

On jumping away Achieved shifted out and hampered Powerful.

In the early stages of the race Achieved and Gorki over raced.

Approaching the winning post Gorki had to be eased to avoid the heels of Perada which shifted out under pressure.

Race 8 - BUNDY ENCLOSURE 19/10 CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1400 metres

When the gates opened Spurious stood flat footed and lost ground. After taking evidence from G. Evagora, rider of Spurious and Mr B. Cox, trainer of the horse, Mr B. Cox was notified that Spurious would not be permitted to race again until such time that the horse performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a trial. In arriving at their decision stewards took into account that Spurious had performed in a similar manner previously.

G. Evagora rider of Spurious, fourth placegetter, was fined the sum of $200.00 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. In arriving at their decision Stewards were not fully satisfied that G. Evagora's action had affected the placings.
