Race 1 - DUBAI RACING CLUB PLATE - 1400 metres:

As the float company had failed to collect "Embraceable You (NZ)" from the stables of J. B. Cummings, and as a result "Embraceable You (NZ)" was unable to arrive on course at the required time, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Embraceable You (NZ)" at 11 a.m.

On jumping away "Flurry's Gem" and "Sophistocat" came together.

"Mookta Sheree", which had a tendency to lay out, was reluctant to take a narrow run on the inside of "Gradual" from the entrance to the straight until passing the 100 metres.

"Flurry's Gem" also had difficulty obtaining a clear run between "Gradual" and "Bella Moxie", which was shifting ground for the majority of the straight.

Race 2 - DUBAI CONVENTION BUREAU PLATE - 1200 metres:

"Cosmic Strike", which had been restless in its stall, bounded in the air on jumping away and lost ground.

Also on jumping away "Crimson Gem" and "Quays" came together, and shortly after the start "Crimson Gem" was then tightened for room between "Quays" and "Romantic Sea", which was laying in. "Crimson Gem" then clipped the heels of "Romantic Sea", and knuckled.

Near the 800 metres "Crimson Gem" had to be eased off the heels of "Special Grange".

Approaching the passing the 600 metres "Star Hit", which had been over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of "Romantic Sea".

Approaching the post "Special Grange" had to be eased off the heels of "Taimana (NZ)", which shifted out under pressure.

D. Gauci, rider of "Romantic Sea", stated that he was unable to ride the mare out in his normal manner over the concluding stages due to the mare hanging in.

B. Prebble, rider of "Spurn" which performed below expectations, stated that the mare in his opinion did not feel comfortable on the dead track today, and he believed that "Spurn" may also be more suited in races further than the 1200 metres of today's distance. Prebble added that "Spurn" felt normal on pulling up. A veterinary examination of "Spurn" failed to reveal any abnormality.

S. Baster, rider of "Reactive" which performed below expectations, stated that the mare had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages of the race, and gave ground over the concluding stages. Baster added that "Reactive" was also racing against a stronger class field today than it had been racing against at its most recent starts. A veterinary examination of "Reactive" failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 3 - JUMEIRAH INTERNATIONAL PLATE - 1400 metres:

"Presumed Innocent" was slow to begin.

Near the 1200 metres "Raven Protector", which had a tendency to over-race, threw its head in the air when being eased off the heels of "Toast of the Coast" when the pace steadied. "Coupe" also had a tendency to over-race in the middle stages of the race.

Near the 600 metres "Brief Embrace" and "Lashed" came together when "Brief Embrace" shifted out and endeavoured to improve its position on the outside of "Coupe".

"Macedon Lady", which then endeavoured to improve its position on the inside of "Brief Embrace", was inconvenienced when "Brief Embrace" was taken back in by "Lashed".

In the straight P. Payne, rider of "Lashed", dropped his whip.

Steven King, rider of "Macedon Lady", was reprimanded for shifting out in the straight to obtain a run, which resulted in "Brief Embrace" being taken out, and then having to be eased off the heels of "Macedon Lady". "Cocktail Evening" was also inconvenienced.

After passing the 200 metres "Coupe" had to be eased off the heels of "Tequila Knowledge", which shifted out slightly under pressure.

D. Oliver, rider of "Brief Embrace" which performed below expectations, stated that the filly did not feel comfortable throughout and, although inconvenienced near the 600 metres when disappointed for a run on the inside of "Lashed", was a beaten horse shortly after this, and gave ground in the straight. A veterinary examination of "Brief Embrace" revealed that the filly was showing some respiratory abnormality. Mr. P. Moody, trainer of "Brief Embrace", was notified that he must produce a veterinary clearance for "Brief Embrace", which must include an endoscopic examination, prior to the filly racing again.

Race 4 - CARLTON DRAUGHT GUINEAS PRELUDE - 1400 metres:

Prior to being loaded in the stalls P. Mertens was dislodged from "King Wells".

Shortly after the start "Able Choice" was hampered when tightened on to the hindquarters of "Unbridled Smile" by "King Wells", which shifted in.

Just prior to straightening "Half Hennessy" shifted out to obtain a narrow run between "All of Me" and "King Wells", and brushed the hindquarters of "King Wells". "All of Me" then shifted out slightly, resulting in "Half Hennessy" becoming unbalanced for several strides.

Corey Brown, rider of "Half Hennessy" which performed below expectations, stated that the colt travelled well until the incident just prior to straightening, and then after being unbalanced for some distance "Half Hennessy" then held his ground in the run to the line. A veterinary examination of "Half Hennessy" failed to reveal any abnormality.

Mr. Noblet, assistant trainer with Mr. Leon Macdonald, trainer of "Great Glen", explained to the Stewards that "Great Glen", which had performed poorly at its previous start at Flemington, had worked hard, was challenged in the lead and hung out over the concluding stages, which he believed contributed to its poor run at its last start. Mr. Noblet added that the addition of blinkers and the fact that "Great Glen" was unchallenged in the lead suited the gelding today.

Race 5 - DUBAI RACING CLUB CUP - 1400 metres:

For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 metres "Pure Theatre" raced tight between "Chong Tong"' and "Scenic Peak".

In the early part of the straight "Royal Code" was held up when unable to obtain a clear run before shifting to the outside of "Dash for Cash" near the 100 metres.

In the straight "Desert Sky", which was hanging in badly, was taken back through the field by "Tit for Taat (NZ)", which was weakening.

In the run to the post "Dash for Cash", which was laying in, had to be eased off the heels of "Royal Code", which shifted in under pressure.

Race 6 - EMIRATES RACING ASSOCIATION UNDERWOOD STAKES - 1800 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight A. Findlay, rider of "Tully Thunder", fifth past the post, viewed the Stewards' patrol video and decided not to lodge an objection.

It was established that near the 300 metres "Tully Thunder" had to change course when disappointed for a run between "Don Eduardo (NZ)" and "Maguire (NZ)", which shifted out.

Approaching the 200 metres "Don Eduardo (NZ)" was inconvenienced when tightened for room between "Maguire (NZ)" and "Magical Miss", when both horses shifted ground slightly.

"Silver Baron" had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the straight, and as a result D. Gauci was unable to ride it out in his normal manner.

Race 7 - EMIRATES AIRLINE CLASSIC - 2000 metres:

"The Secondmortgage (NZ)" jumped away awkwardly, and knuckled.

On the home turn "Court of Jewels (NZ)", which was laying out, was hampered and became unbalanced when tightened for room by "Gold Lottey" (S. King), which shifted in slightly away from "Thong Classic". S. King was notified that he must make every effort to ensure that runners on his inside have sufficient galloping room.

In the straight "The A Train (NZ)", which was attempting a narrow run between "Piper Star" and "Maythehorsesbewithu (NZ)" was hampered on two occasions due mainly to "Maythehorsebewithu (NZ)" shifting out slightly.

Near the 200 metres "The Secondmortgage (NZ)" had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between "Van Winkle (NZ)" and "Big Pat" where there was insufficient room.

D. Nikolic, rider of "Piper Star" which performed poorly, stated that the mare was never travelling well, and gave ground quickly when put under pressure from the top of the straight. Nikolic added that he believes that there may be something amiss with the mare. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 8 - DUBAI SHOPPING FESTIVAL PLATE - 1200 metres:

Prior to correct weight being declared P. Mertens, rider of "Runs to Win", second placegetter, viewed the Stewards' video and decided not to lodge an objection.

At the entrance to the straight "Runs to Win" had to change course to avoid the heels of "Lethal Leigh", which shifted out. When changing course "Runs to Win" shifted in and brushed "Constructor".

Near the 200 metres "Feel the Noise" and "Lethal Leigh" came together. "Lethal Leigh" then shifted in away from "Feel the Noise" towards "Runs to Win".

After passing the 1000 metres "Gunnamatta" was tightened for room between "Let's Planet" and "Berezny", which was taken in by "Off to Sea", which in turn was taken in by "Storm Attack", which shifted in away from "Sportsbrat" before having to be steadied off the heels of "Jai's Jump". S. Arnold was notified that he must make a greater effort to prevent his mount shifting ground in future.

S. Arnold, rider of "Storm Attack" which performed below expectations, stated that the gelding had a tendency to over-race early but did not respond to his riding and gave ground in the straight. Arnold added that he believed that something may have been amiss with it. A veterinary examination of "Storm Attack: failed to reveal any abnormality.

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of all races today.

ADJOURNED INQUIRY: An inquiry into the reason for B. Park being unable to fulfil his engagement to ride 'Firetaine (NZ)" in the Emirates Airline Classic - Race 7 - was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
