Broadband's Spring on the Line in Vain

r6leefreedman.jpg (8505 bytes)Promising Freedman trained three-year-old Broadband has drawn awkwardly for Saturday's Vain Stakes at Caulfield, a race which will be used as a spring guide.

Freedman has nominated for the youngster for a string of feature races later in the spring including the Cox Plate, Caulfield Guineas and Victoria Derby.

When final acceptors were taken this morning Broadband was alloted barrier twelve in the field of 14 for the $100,500 listed event.

Freedman, who will also be represented by the carnival prospects Don Eduardo, Manang, Moon Dragon, Le Zagaletta, Cyberiad and Chong Tong on Saturday, has predicted a bit of a bright future for Broadband.

"He's been going well at home and the form around him for last night has begun stacking up in town," Freedman said.

Damien Oliver, fresh from his runaway win in last night's Scobie Breasley Medal, will be in saddle on Saturday.

Broadband isn't expected to have everything his own way. His thirteen rivals include exciting prospects Rohatyn, Great Glen, Cool Trent, Acee Deecee, Delago Brom, Frightening and Step Ahead.
