Innovation Girl Fine for Caulfield

0817innovationgirl.jpg (18254 bytes)Astute Flemington based trainer Brian Mayfield-Smith will run Innovation Girl in Saturday’s $100,750 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield after he aborted plans to start her in the weekend’s Group Two Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington.

Mayfield-Smith chose to scratch the brilliant filly after she drew awkwardly in the race that was won by Coupe in a thrilling finish.

"It would have just been too harder task," Mayfield-Smith said. "So we are reserving her."

"There is nothing wrong with her and she should start at Caulfield – all going well," he added.

When nominations closed at noon today 17 entries were received for the Thoroughbred Club Stakes on Caulfield Guineas, Yalumba Stakes and Toorak Handicap day.

Aside from the brilliant three-year-old daughter of Rubiton, other interesting nominations include Edgeton, Firenza, Insightful and Toast of the Coast.
