Webb to Front Stewards over High Bi-Carb Reading

0519swebb.jpg (12079 bytes)Cranbourne based trainer Stuart Webb will be asked to front stewards after a pre-race test of one of his recent runners return a high bi-carb reading.

A pre-race blood sample from one of Webb's runners at the Terang meeting at Warrnambool on Monday returned today with an excessive concentrate of TCO2.

"The analyst reported that LOCHI had a Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) level at a concentration greater than 36.0 mm/l in plasma, a prohibited substance under the rules of racing," today's stewards report said.

Lochi, the horse in question, was a runner in the Robyn Macey's Panmure Hotel Class 4 Handicap. It finished third and is likely to be disqualified at the upcoming stewards hearing.

An inquiry will be held at a date to be fixed.
