Race 1 - POOLEY BRIDGE TRIAL HURDLE - 3100 metres:

Acting on a report from the Starter that "Nostrovia" was difficult to place in the starting stalls, and as "Nostrovia" had proved difficult to load on a previous occasion, the Stewards notified Mr. G. Mallinson that the horse was suspended from racing until such time as it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a trial. Mr. Mallinson was further notified that "Nostrovia" must obtain a barrier test certificate at that time.

As the result of the above, the start of the race was delayed.

 Race 2 - LOWLAND HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

"Mondavi" was re-plated behind the barrier prior to the race, which resulted in the start of the race being slightly delayed.

Race 3 - BROADBRIDGE SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Approaching the 200 metres "Lord Montague" was inconvenienced due to "Disco Hips (NZ)" shifting in.

Race 4 - COURTZA SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Acting on a report from the Starter regarding the unruly behaviour of "Lady Garcia" when being placed in its starting stall, the Stewards notified Ms Rhiannon Schiffer, who was representing Mr. Robbie Griffiths, trainer, that the filly is now suspended from racing until such time as it trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards, at which time a barrier test certificate must be obtained for "Lady Garcia".

On two occasions near the 800 metres "Homecoming Queen (NZ)" faltered in the going.

Rounding the home turn "Dean's Wish" had to be checked off the heels of "Stellar Finare", and in so doing shifted out and bumped "Homecoming Queen (NZ)".

Near the 200 metres "All Monde" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Dean's Wish" and "Warrior Elf" which, after being brushed by "Homecoming Queen (NZ)", shifted in when laying in, and shifted in further away from that filly.

After passing the 200 metres R. McLeod, rider of "Sweet Poss", dropped his whip.

Race 5 - CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight M. Pegus, rider of "Aka Bilk (NZ)", third placegetter, viewed the Stewards' videos and decided not to lodge an objection.

R. Wheeler, rider of "Paestum", second placegetter, weighed in one kilogram in excess of his declared weight. After taking into account the circumstances the Stewards gave R. Wheeler the benefit of the doubt as to whether he was fully responsible for the discrepancy.

Over the concluding stages of the race "Aka Bilk (NZ)" was hampered, and had to change course , and "Paestum" was taken out off its course by "Zabeels Angel (NZ)" (Michelle Payne), which shifted out under pressure when not sufficiently clear. Michelle Payne was severely reprimanded, and notified that she must stop riding and straighten her mount in future.

A veterinary examination of "Pentathlon", which had performed below expectations, failed to reveal any apparent abnormality.

Race 6 - MORSE CODE SUPER VOBIS STAYERS HANDICAP - 2219 metres:

"Penash (NZ)" reard over backwards prior to the Starter releasing the field and became cast, and as a result kicked "Ti Tree Flyer" in an adjoining stall. Both "Penash (NZ)" and "Ti Tree Flyer" were withdrawn from the event at 4.03 p.m.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on "Penash (NZ)" and "Ti Tree Flyer" be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of "Penash (NZ)" and "Ti Tree Flyer" be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets: 29 cents; Place Bets: 23 cents; Winning Concession Bets: 27 cents and Doubles Bets: 29 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal were ordered to be paid at face value of the ticket.

As Mr. C. Little, trainer of "Penash (NZ)" , had left the course the Stewards will interview him in respect of the mare's behaviour.

Near the 500 metres "Zabuan (NZ)" had to be checked off the heels of "Bold Impulse", which was weakening badly.

A veterinary examination of "Penash (NZ)" revealed that the mare had sustained a laceration to the poll, and abrasions to the near-side elbow and forearm.

A veterinary examination of "Bold Impulse" revealed that the gelding was lame in the off fore leg.

Race 7 - MOOKTA HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight A. Findlay, rider of "Out of Options", third placegetter, viewed the Stewards' patrol video and lodged an objection against "Yoruba" being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference from the 200 metres to the winning post. After the parties had viewed the Stewards' videos and after hearing the evidence of the parties concerned, the Stewards dismissed the objection.

Subsequently it was established that after passing the 200 metres "Out of Options" was taken out by "Yoruba" (C. Newitt) which, after shifting out, continued to shift out when not clear. "Out of Options" then changed course to the inside of "Yoruba" to obtain a clear run. When "Yoruba" continued to shift out "Shango's Image", which was racing on the outside of "Out of Options", was inconvenienced. The Stewards, whilst giving the benefit of the doubt to C. Newitt, rider of "Yoruba", whether he was sufficiently clear of "Out of Options" when he initially shifted out, severely reprimanded him for continuing to shift out, but notified him that he must exercise far greater care when shifting ground in future.

"Foxborough" was slow to begin.

Race 8 - SEPTEMBER HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Approaching the first turn "Blues Explosion" had to be eased when tightened for room by "Julouka" (Reece Wheeler), which shifted in slightly. Reece Wheeler was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure that he is clear of other runners when shifting ground in future.

On straightening "Julouka", which shifted out slightly, had to be eased off the heels of "Fairy Flash", which shifted in slightly. "Dreamalot", which was following, was hampered in consequence.

Subsequent to the race the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that "Ebony Beauty:" had sustained a laceration to its near eye.

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of all races today.
