Race 1 - BRISBANE LIONS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres:

Elytra Bid was slow to begin.

Race 2 - WOLF BLASS SUPER VOBIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:

On arrival at the barrier, Mitzy's Edge was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.

In the early stages of the race Heart Attack hung in.

W.Hokai, rider of Mitzy's Edge, stated that he had to stop riding and straighten his mount on a number of occasions in the home straight due to the filly having a tendency to lay in under pressure. A subsequent veterinary examination of Mitzy's Edge revealed that the filly was slightly sore in front.

Also in the straight Sunshine Avenue raced greenly.

G. Murphy, rider of What Happened which performed poorly, stated that the gelding showed speed early in the race but gave ground after being placed under pressure at the entrance to the straight. G. Murphy added that when giving ground, What Happened felt short in it's action. A subsequent veterinary examination of What Happened revealed no abnormalities.

R. Beattie, rider of Heart Attack, second place getter, was reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.

Race 3 - SIMPSON CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Lochinvale (NZ) was slow to begin.

Near the 1300 Metres Financial Heights was hampered when tightened for room between Dantastic and Silken Manor (NZ) which shifted in when being restrained off the heels of Lochinvale (NZ).

In the early part of the straight Zanman was inconvenienced by Little Riachu, which was taken in slightly by Lochinvale (NZ).

During the race What A Natural lost its near fore plate.

Race 4 - COLLINGWOOD CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

S. Vella , rider of Beauciel (NZ) explained that he was unable to ride his mount out in his normal manner for the majority of the home straight due to the gelding hanging in. S. Vella added that approaching the 100 metres he was able to obtain an inside run but was then blocked for a run nearing the winning post. S. Vella's explanation was accepted.

Race 5 - CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP- 1300 metres:

Prior to correct weight being declared M. Heagney, rider of Love Lessons, viewed the Steward's patrol video of the straight before deciding not to lodge an objection.

On jumping away Natrass Lane was tightened for room between On The Snip and Stoic Jester, which shifted in.

In the early part of the straight Love Lessons had to be eased and change course after attempting to take a run where there was insufficient room between Grand Bahamas (NZ) and On The Snip, after both horses had shifted ground slightly.

Race 6 - CALLAN BEASY CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

On arrival at the barrier Baile Brigin was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the gelding was sore in the near fore leg and unfit to run. Acting on this advice, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Baile Brigin at 3.46 pm and ordered all monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Baile Brigin to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of Baile Brigin are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets - 5 cents; Place Bets - 6 cents; Winning Concession Bets - 6 cents; Doubles Bets - 5 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.

Costa Grande began awkwardly.

Rubin James shifted out on jumping away and bumped Street Market.

Race 7 - AFL AUSKICK CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

On jumping away Kaarston threw its head in the air and lost ground.

Woodful began awkwardly.

After passing the 1300 metres Astroteddy had to be checked when tightened for room between Woodful and Boat due to both horses shifting ground.

Passing the 1200 metres Woodful had to be eased when tightened for room by Boat which shifted in slightly.

Approaching the 800 metres Astroteddy dipped and became unbalanced.

After passing the 600 metres Chopstick lost its footing and became unbalanced. Miss M. Payne, rider of Chopstick, explained that she eased the gelding down in the home straight as its action concerned her. A subsequent veterinary examination of Chopstick revealed no abnormalities.

Approaching the winning post Boat and Check Our Beez were tightened for room between Woodful, which shifted in, and Scarpia, which shifted out slightly.

Over the concluding stages Regal Hawk had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

Race 8 - CARLTON DRAUGHT MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:

Prior to correct weight being declared, J. Keating, rider of Guntram, fourth place getter, requested to view the Stewards patrol video of the home straight prior to lodging an objection against Julian (B. Rawiller) being declared third on the grounds of alleged interference from the 200 metres to the 100 metres. After hearing the evidence from all of the parties concerned and having viewed the official videos, Stewards dismissed the objection. It was established that in the early part of the straight Gemima (B. Cross), shifted out abruptly under pressure and in doing so tightened Guntram on to Julian, resulting in Guntram being hampered and Julian being turned inwards and becoming unbalanced. Shortly after this incident, Gemima shifted in and inconvenienced Lacryma Hope. After passing the 200 metres Lacryma Hope and Guntram bumped due to both horses shifting ground. Shortly after this Julian, which after becoming unbalanced, shifted in and bumped Guntram in on to Lacryma Hope, resulting in Guntram being hampered and Lacryma Hope becoming unbalanced. B. Cross was reprimanded and notified that he must make every effort to straighten his mount which shifting ground in future. B. Rawiller was severely reprimanded and notified that he must stop riding and endeavour to straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion in the future.

Wooringollah and Bachelor's Symbol raced ungenerously in the early stages.

Rounding the home turn Lacryma Hope became unbalanced when racing close to the running rail.
