Race 1 - Jetport Parking SV 3YO F Maiden Plate - 1400 metres:

Umagold jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 700 metres Isanova became unbalanced when being eased off the heels of Umagold.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Blushing Plume had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Race 2 - Pentax SV 3YO C & G Maiden Plate - 1400 metres:

Acting on a report from the Club's Veterinary Surgeon that Fubutu had injured its near hind leg and was unfit to run, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the colt at 12.24 p.m.

Against The Tide and Lord Watman were slow to begin.

En route to the barrier Against The Tide attempted to buck for some distance. Mr. B. McKnight trainer of the gelding, was notified that an official warning would be placed on Against The Tide for his unruly behaviour today.

In the early part of the straight Live Theatre had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Race 3 - Asian Bazaar Maiden Plate - 1300 metres:

Passing the 1200 metres Dublin Castle and Song Of Nile had to be checked when tightened for room by Rediness, which was taken in by Danish Dynamite (E. Cassar), which initially shifted in when not clear. The interference was aggravated due to Danish Dynamite then having to shift in away from Choc Dee Khrup (B. Johns), which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. As Stewards did not attribute the blame to any one rider they took no action, other than to severely reprimand both E. Cassar and B. Johns for shifting ground when not clear. Lavender Lady, which was following was hampered in consequence.

In the middle stages of the race Song Of Nile over-raced.

On the home turn Officer Barbrady shifted out and hampered Monty.

Near the 200 metres Danish Dynamite, which was racing greenly shifted in and inconvenienced Killeshandra.

Race 4 - AAPT Maiden Plate - 1000 metres:

During the running of the race Miss Yum Cha suffered a bleeding attack.

On jumping away Fandango knuckled.

Shortly after the start Sir Bollinger had to be checked when tightened for room between Tanforan, which shifted in slightly, and Spin I'm In, which was taken out by Puss In Cahoots (NZ).

Race 5 -J M Leeach Jewellers Class 1 Handicap - 1000 metres:

The start of this race was delayed due to Radioactive Star having to be replated at the barrier.

Shortly after the start Sudden Snow shifted out away from The Spy Who Shagny and as a result clipped the heels of Super Simon, which shifted in and knuckled.

Near the 700 metres The Spy Who Shangy and Sudden Snow were tightened for room between Little Riachu, which shifted in slightly, and Radioactive Star, which shifted out.

After passing the 600 metres Radioactive Star, Little Riachu and Rusty Penny were tightened for room between Sparkling Gulch and Berceuse (C. Robertson), which shifted in slightly. C. Robertson was notified to ensure he leaves sufficient room for horses on his inside in future.

On the home turn Radioactive Star became unbalanced, when racing tight between Sparkling Gulch and Little Riachu, and as a result shifted out and brushed the hind quarters of Little Riachu.

Race 6 - Tooheys New Handicap - 1100 metres:

Approaching the 900 metres Stoic Jester had to be eased when tightened for room between Mighty Way, which shifted out, and Tin Tan Belle, which shifted in away from Another Sport.

After passing the 200 metres Another Sport, which was weakening, had to be checked when tightened for room between Mighty Way, which when hanging, shifted out, and Stoic Jester (D. Yates), which shifted in. D. Yates was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Rounding the home turn and in the straight Mighty Way hung out.

Race 7 - Pryda Homes SV Stayers Series Class 3 Handicap - 2400 metres:

Turning out of the straight the saddle on Calcavecchia shifted forward, resulting in K. McEvoy rider of the gelding, being at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

Race 8 - Shamrock Hotel Class 4 Handicap - 1500 metres:

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. K. Newman trainer of Scenic Quest that the gelding had injured its wither and was unfit to start, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Scenic Quest at 1.09 p.m. Mr. Newman will submit a Veterinary Certificate in respect of Scenic Quest to the Club.

Race 9 -Ten Victoria Class 2 Handicap - 1300 metres:

Boat was slow to begin.

Passing the 800 metres Boar had to be eased off the heels of Stark Player (NZ) on two occasions.

Shortly after straightening Jill's Lino shifted out and brushed Rustic Treasure.

SWAB SAMPLES:

Swab samples were taken from the following winners :- Caius (Race 1), Choc Dee Khrup (Race 3), Pick Pocketer (Race 5), Off To Sea (Race 6), Danjoe's Express (Race 8)

FINES & EXPLANATIONS:

Mr. D. Hall trainer of Work And Tumble (NZ) was fined $30 for using wrong colours on the gelding.
