Redevelopment Plans Announced for Moonee Valley

The Moonee Valley Racing Club is set to undergo a significant upgrade after appointing a consortium of architects, Jackson Clements Burrows and Daryl Jackson Pty Ltd, to develop a facilities Master Plan.

The architects have been asked to develop a concept design and implementation plan by mid December. An 'opportunity matrix' will also developed, which will explore all opportunities for redevelopment.

"The redevelopment is part of the Club's vision to attract new Members and provide the highest quality facilities and services to existing Members," said MVRC Chief Executive Paul Brettell.

As part of their design the architects will be asked to build on the Club's intimacy by enhancing the opportunity for Members to view the horses pre-race, during the race and post- race, while being entertained in state of the art facilities. The ground level will also be addressed, with the aim being to create an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness for members and their guests. This may require the demolition of some existing facilities.

"In essence, given the compact nature of our facilities, we intend featuring 'the horse'. We will open up the stalls area, parade ring and mounting yard, so that they are more obvious and accessible to all. We need to build our point of difference, that being the closeness of the track to the viewing audience. By doing this we believe we can make a day at the races truly a day with 'the horse'," said Mr Brettell.

Other areas will also be addressed, including an increase in dining box facilities, greater access to viewing areas as well as looking at the option of temporary facilities for major race days.

"Better facilities will drive more people to attend and grow the Membership base, both of which are integral to the Club's Business Plan 'Racing the Dream- The Valley Vision', which was announced in March," said Mr Brettell.
