Race 1 – ASIAN BAZAAR IMPORTS MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres:

On jumping away Oakwood Miss and Premium Red bumped.

Rhys McLeod rider of Just Send Kash (NZ) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching and passing the 1400 metres when not sufficiently clear of Oakwood Miss, which resulted in Oakwood Miss being taken in off its course and having to be steadied.

In the early part of the straight Allavay was held up before shifting to the outside of Praised (NZ) to obtain a run near the 200 metres.

Race 2 – TOOHEYS NEW CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

Prior to the race an amended stable return was received for Final Dividend to show M.J. North, K. Davis, R. Robinson, T. Sessions and T. Robinson as nominators.

Channel In jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Street Mate sprawled on jumping away and lost ground.

Near the 800 metres Brazen Prince had to be steadied when tightened for room between Littlewood Lane and Street Mate, which improved on its inside and shifted out.

In the straight Carnaby hung in and as a result Bernadette Payne the horse’s rider was unable to ride it out in the normal manner.

Race 3 – MYER BENDIGO SV 3YO F MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:

Golden Shoe (NZ) hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 4 – PORSCHE CENTRE MELBOURNE AUDI SV 3YO C & G MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:

At the 800 metres Super Scope shifted in abruptly and tightened King Street on to Crash McGrath and Barador, resulting in those horses being hampered.

Approaching the 200 metres Classicus was tightened for room between Royal Thunder and Perlin (NZ), which shifted out to improve its position.

Brett Prebble rider of Super Scope, which performed poorly, stated that the colt did not feel comfortable throughout the race, became unbalanced on the home turn and did not respond to his riding in the straight, and he believed there may have been something amiss with the colt. A subsequent Veterinary examination of Super Scope revealed that the colt was suffering from a respiratory irregularity. D. L. Freedman trainer of Super Scope will be notified that prior to the colt racing again he must produce a Veterinary Clearance, which includes the results of an endoscopic examination.

Race 5 – PRYDA HOMES CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

N. Callow rider of Rebel With A Cause was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in after passing the 900 metres when not sufficiently clear of Spike The Bubbles, thereby tightening that gelding in on to Secret Agenda and Carnasquare, resulting in Secret Agenda being hampered and having to be eased.

Fearless Sophie had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run approaching and passing the 200 metres.

Approaching the winning post Thinking Cap had some difficulty before obtaining a narrow run on the inside of Classic Wine.

A Veterinary examination of Rebel With A Cause subsequent to the race revealed that the gelding was suffering from atrial fibrillation. Mr. G. Eurell trainer of Rebel With A Cause was notified that prior to the gelding racing again he must produce a Veterinary Clearance which must include the results of an E.C.G. before and after exercise.

Race 6 – BULL & BEAR TAVERN F & M CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1500 metres:

Shortly after jumping away Loch Carron shifted out slightly and tightened Stimulate on to Look To Monaco, which became unbalanced.

Near the 800 metres Loch Carron, which was laying out, had to be checked when brushed by Zo Ally, which was racing tight between Buonna Notte and Superb Melody. Loch Carron then hung out for the remainder of the race.

Race 7 – PENTAX CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 2200 metres:

Turning into the home straight Realm Of Gold was disappointed for a run between Kohinstad (NZ) and Morebulk.

Calcavecchia had to change course to obtain a run in the straight.

Race 8 – ALL SEASONS INTERNATIONAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

Near the 900 metres Romantic Lover got its head up when being eased off the heels of Iota Of Luck.

SWAB SAMPLES: Swab samples were taken from the following winners – Allavay (Race 1), Enniskerry (Race 3), Spike The Bubbles (Race 5), Kohinstad (NZ) (Race 7)
Race 5 – Rebel With A Cause and Fearless Sophie were pre-race blood tested for post race analysis.
Race 7 – Rhapsodize (NZ) and Calcavecchia were also pre-race blood tested for post race analysis.

EXPLANATIONS:
Stewards accepted the explanation of N. Dyer for the late notification of R. Cartwright as the rider of Rocky Le Beau.

FINES :
P. T. Hyland trainer of Crash McGrath (Race 4) was fined $50 for the late notification of B. Rawiller as the rider of the gelding.
Mr. D. Weir trainer of Spike The Bubbles (Race 5) was fined $50 for the late notification of M. Pumpa as the rider of the gelding.
