Field Catapulted In Straight Six

Rodd Puts The Stick Away On CatapultedLast start Group One placegetter Catapulted blitzed his rivals today in the listed $125,000 Henry Bucks Straight Six (1200m) at Flemington.

Catapulted ($1.80,$1.85) was ridden confidently by Rodd from his wide gate settling on the leaders flank and hitting the breeze for the length of the straight.

When Rodd moved his hands at the 400m mark the race was over in the blink of an eye, sprinting sharply and opening up a winning margin of three lengths over Eight Bills ($6,$7.50) with a further length to El Mandon ($13,$14) third.

Having come across from Kavanagh's Adelaide stables Rodd admitted having very little to do with the up and coming sprinter but was suitably impressed with the winning performance

"I had a little bit to do with him early days and he was a real handful," said Rodd.

Jockey Michael Rodd"Sam Kavanagh and Simon Price have done a terrific job bringing him through his grades in Adelaide"

"I really liked the way he switched off out of the gates and when I asked him to quicken he found three or four lengths very quickly and that's what you need in these good horses," Rodd added

Trainer Mark Kavanagh was more reserved in his assessment describing the four-year-old as a consistent, honest horse.

"He is a good honest horse and he just keeps getting better," said Kavanagh following the win.

Kavanagh praised the efforts of his Adelaide team and observed that placing Catapulted in suitable races would become much harder in the near future.

"He is flying at the moment and the Adelaide stable have done a great job keeping him going," said Kavanagh.

"It will be hard to place him from here on in so we will probably look for a few races in Queensland"

"He put these horses away but with all due respect it's going to be a lot tougher competition in Queensland," he added.
